Journey to Forochel , Three
Usva was awake and tending fire when Mugendo Returned. The two of them were soon in a busy silence preparing the catch when Mugendo paused and looked across to her with a large grin on his face “Hope you have a good appetite after your swim!”….
Usva looked shocked at such A statement, her emotions raced around looking for A reference point to respond when the infectious Laugh of Mugendo bough a smile to her lips, A moment later the two of them were crying with laughter, the worry and tension dissolved as they recounted the event whenever they could catch their breath…
“You should have seen your face” He shouted across to her…….”I wondered where the stars had gone” she retorted…..the rest of the afternoon passed in an instant to them.
“Delicious, Simply…De…Li…cious, Now that is A what I call trail ration Usva”…both of them were in good spirits, rested and ready to take on the world again, the cold Northlands at least.
The fading light revealed the stars twinkling in the cold air, “The nightfire will be here soon Usva, There is A trading outpost we can reach if we set off now”…..usva nodded in response as she packed the camp essentials very efficiently into her horse pouches.
Mugendo kicked snow into the campfire and turned to mount his horse…the fire seemed alive as it hissed and spat under the snow for a moment before succumbing and falling into silence, the hiss of steam it’s dying breath.
The conversation turned to speculation of the stone structures they had come across earlier in the journey, derelict fortifications wherever the trails became narrow. Clearly not made by the current occupants of this land, the Lossoth had no use for stone fortifications.
No point of light was bright enough to pierce the inky blackness of A Forochel night. He stood quietly Looking up at the beauty of the sky lights racing across the sky, his senses focused his attention to the west as he looked out across the cold desolate landscape. Then there they were…… two dark spots barely visible in the distance. Peering keenly into the night the spots became two shadows A little darker than the surrounding night. Long minutes passed as the shapes came closer, now accompanied by the sound of footsteps clearly heard as the hooves crushed down the crisp snow.
As they approached he shouted out to them, the response put him at ease as he stood aside to welcome the two into the camp, Mugendo and Usva had finaly arrived in the Lossoth far east outpost.
