Chapter II - A brace of woodchuck
We've taken up a suitable place on the hill overlooking the village. We have little need for the comforts of the small burrow but one of the locals has given us free reign on his land which was most welcome. I understand he has some connections up at the Hall, a fine tailor by all accounts. From there we can watch the gate and the surrounds and as far back as the Hall which can be clearly seen even on the dullest of mornings.
The lads are enjoying the work, and it is good to see them busy once again. It affords me a little time to explore further afield. Today at noon I had a stroke of good fortune. Word reached me from the Delving that I should take a closer look around Deepvale – apparently there is a seldom used path that I might take that would bring me there by dusk. A few hours walk, perhaps less. At the very least I should be able to bring back a brace of woodchuck for supper. Marley would have made that easier still... *chuckles*
