With two of the ancient stones visited by the warband Khalis copied out the first details of his written report and sent them onward to the scholar Nystal in Imladris where they could take what had been learned so far and see if anything could be found in the library there which might help understand the matter better.
Written Ancient Relics ReportStone OneLocation :- Oat-barton along the northern border of the Shire. It can be found in the field of one of the hobbit farmsteads.Description :- The relic is constructed of a dark rock, much like an obelisk. Upon one side of its sides there is emblazoned a runic glyph which has about it a green radiance. The relic emits a green essence which dissipates into the surrounding area.Assessment :- The immediate area surrounding the relic is devoid of life, the crops there have withered and died much like the way a poison affects living things.Action taken :- A sample of the essence was bottled and sealed and a drawing was made of the runic glyph for more study once returned to Imladris.Stone TwoLocation :- The Greenway north of Amon Raith at the Farmstead of William Peake. The farmstead has been burnt outDescription :- The relic is constructed of a dark rock, much like an obelisk. Upon one side of its sides there is emblazoned a runic glyph which has about it a fiery red radiance. The relic emits a reddish essence.Assessment :- There is no immediate obvious effect of this radiance but we believe that it somehow incites those who come within its area of influence with fury after a varying amount of time. The local menfolk there seemed disturbed at the presence of elves from Imladris and did not welcome our presence. Perhaps this is also responsible for the increased goblin activity along this section of the Greenway for goblins are weak willed creatures at best, and thus would be easily influenced. I believe this stone will also burn some or all who touch it for i encountered one from the race of men who claimed the stone had done such to themself.Action Taken :- A sample of the essence was bottled and sealed and a drawing was made of the runic glyph for more study once returned to Imladris.Until we understand more of the nature of these stones we will avoid direct contact with them knowing what we do of their effects. Also the Lady Nimlith infomed all in Imladris at the gathering before we rode out that she took a sliver from the one in Forochel and it almost drained her totally of her will.
Stone ThreeLocation :- Deep inside the Angmarian fortress at the rearmost gate. The defensive forces in place are considerable as such its not possible to reach the ancient rock undetected.Description :- The relic is constructed of a dark rock, much like an obelisk. Upon one side of its sides there is emblazoned a runic glyph which has about it a deep purple radiance. The relic emits a purple essence.Assessment :- There is no immediate obvious effect of this radiance but we encountered the same dread feeling as at the other rock formations previously visited. There is no Angmarim in the location of the stone, perhaps because they too are wary of its presence at this time. As with the other stones there was no sign of any living creatures or plants within close proximity of the stone.Action Taken :- A sample of the essence was bottled and sealed and a drawing was made of the runic glyph for more study once returned to Imladris.Stone FourLocation :- Lies within the borders of Enedwaith, namely the area referred to as Thror’s Coomb .The area is inhabited by a large colony of these dark skinned drakes of varying stages of their life path. The stone can be found in the eastern section at the base of the cliff face. We also found one of the Grey Company at its location investigating it also.Description :- The relic is constructed of a dark rock, much like an obelisk. Upon one side of its sides there is emblazoned a runic glyph which has about it a shadowy radiance. The relic emits a grey/black essence. The expected aura of this stone seemed more intense than any of the others we had previously been in the vicinity of. There was a greater expectation of dread and doom, so much so we utilised one of the Edhelhern tokens we always carry.Assessment :- The main effect as noted above of dread seems to cause all creatures to stay well away from its vicinity from the common field mouse to the largest drakes in the area. From the greater effects we felt from this stone its our assessment its so far the most dangerous of those encountered.Action Taken :- A sample of the essence was bottled and sealed and a drawing was made of the runic glyph for more study once returned to Imladris.Until we understand more of the nature of these stones we will avoid direct contact with them knowing what we do of their effects. Also the Lady Nimlith infomed all in Imladris at the gathering before we rode out that she took a sliver from the one in Forochel and it almost drained her totally of her will.
