Thoughts, Events and Feelings #9

A learned mind can still learn more, yet old roots never leave us.

I have recently been following up advice from Scholars in Ered Luin. Twenty or so years ago, I was asked to begin training with a "Staff", at first I frowned about the idea, but eventually I had came around to it. It is not all so bad, I feel as if it has enhanced my out view in learning.

As for my family, we have departed to the Falathorn homesteads, I am glad of this, my Grandson has already began his education. I found something interesting, yet concerning, I asked him what an Orc was, and like I expected he could not tell me the answer. His Mother, Iverwen told me that she got a book and showed him an illustration of one. His exact words were; "They look fascinating". Tomorrow, I shall educate him properly upon the history and meaning of Orcs, but this is where I shall not like to begin... I wish to learn him about himself, his race, where we came from, and why we are in middle-earth.

I am not aware of what sort of being he shall come out to be, a heavy armoured swordsman, or a Scholar, an Elf of learning. I should leave these decisions to his Mother and Father, the art of combat is something that I tended to ignore after an age or so of first learning.

There shall be a time when we may all loose our loved ones, through War. I grow worried every day. My family are secure, gold-wise that is, if I should be killed during the upcomming battles. Although, my place shall not be on the front lines.

Lord Elrond has already begun to draw me out from my job as Ambassador, instead, to focus on tactical plans. It appears more increasing numbers of Orc have decided to grace the Trollshaws.

May the flag of Rivendell stand high so the Orc, Uruk-Hai and Wildmen may see!
