Bard-off

Found:

I am seeing more and more new faces of late.

The first today was Lulos, a friend of Orduin. He seemed personable enough and quite eager to show me his pride and joy; a library within the town. Now, I have been told many times of people being led astray by the ethereal beauty of Elf-kind, but never of being lured by the promise of books! His collection was, indeed, impressive and I could have gladly continued our conversation for many an hour, but my attention was needed elsewhere.

I must remember to introduce Woad to him at some point. Warm and not without humour, she might find him interesting as well.

The second, a braggadocious bard by the name of Jostir. He was, at first loud and grating. It took quite some restraint not to smash him in the face with a handy tankard at one point! But as time went on, he proved himself to be.... loud and not quite as bright as his witty tongue would suggest. Quite aside from agreeing to buy a "bell of summoning" sold by an amusing little swindler, he then went on to anger Balnirar and Zurri!

It started off well enough, with Jostir singing and playing. Both Zurri and the young entrepenur joined in, throwing out their own rhymes to follow his. Balnirar, meanwhile, added in the dulcet tones of his bagpipes. I quite enjoyed it!

Alas, Jostir then went on to upset Balnirar by throwing a tankard of ale over his prized bagpipes. Zurri, he managed to agitate by first requesting the dwarf's charity and then refusing to return the coin that had been given to him.

I did my best to defuse tensions, but the man continued to incite ire to the point that he was chased by the pair! Or Balnirar, at least. Zurri tried, but recent injuries received from brigands brought him low before he could go too far. The poor dwarrow collapsed along the street. Luckily, Balnirar returned, having lost Jostir, before I was forced to try hauling Zurri to safety!

Rahvic sought me out as well. It seems that the man can actually surprise me in a good way! After our recent talk, he's come to the conclusion that the life he's leading is not the one that he wants. He now plans to release the girl, give up his share in the tavern and leave smuggling behind.

I can only hope that it goes well for him, but I cannot help but fear that this Vanden may not be so eager or happy about the loss of his business partner. He sounds to be a man quick to violence, and a little paranoid perhaps? If he chooses to see Rahvic as a loose end...

I cannot concern myself with such thoughts. Not yet. I'll take it as it comes instead.
