Corruption Part IX - An Encounter

A sword sparkled coldly under the bright light of the moon while leaving its sheath… Nothing moved other than the soft wind blowing around them. Reiven watched the hooded he elf shouting behind her blurred vision.

“I have found you!” he cried and his voice lifted the mist before her eyes. Yet she couldn’t able to move like stunned as the other Elf wrestling the sword out of his hand. Reiven recognized him as Veryacano, Master of the Order of Hammer.

He threw the sword into the water and helped him to rise back onto his feet, removing his hood to reveal his face.

A face scratched and marred beyond measure.

A face Reiven saw in her dreams countless times.

He elf looked at her and apologized asking if she knows him. Under the careful watch of the two he told that he feels almost he knows her.

“My Lady” he said “you’re in danger”

Reiven turned her looks away couldn’t bear to face him. His name was Daelith, former knight of hammer and sworn of Veryacano. And there was Turuviel watching him with her keen blue eyes. She was an average height elven Lady whose face framed by dark brown hairs.

Daelith looked at Veryacano and cried “My Lord it’s her! The one I have told you… The one in my dreams…”

Reiven filled with an uneasy feeling and he pointed right directly to her left arm where she has been carrying the mark.

Pure hearted Turuviel stand still against him “No darkness can take the form of one of the Eldar” and Reiven felt ashamed that her weakness let her be tainted.

Daelith didn’t make a move but start crying “Show it to me Reiven, I beg you” and she pulled the sleeve of her dress revealing the bruise which looks more like a dragon tail shaped tattoo before their eyes. He leaned on her arm then stepped back terrified.

“Dark touch” he said focusing his only intact eye on her “It happened because of what I did… Since I committed the terrible sin here, I felt the presence of a dark being…”

Pain hit her as she felt the cold touch of steel. It was just a memory or maybe something left from her nightmares.

She saw the crime, tasted the sin

None noticed the fear in her eyes and Daelith said “The only way to stop it.. is to kill you”. His words hang in the air for a moment and Reiven surprisingly felt that she could accept that fate. It seemed so easy but Veryacano put his hand on his chest again to keep him in check.

“But if I kill you” he talked more to himself “I would make the soul strengthen" and suddenly turned his look towards to Lord Veyacano.

“I am your humble servant in death and in life and I’m begging you, please offer her the protection of the swan. Least I cannot touch her when my dark half arises.”

As the white swan opened her wings to welcome she elf, Daelith warned her “Please, Reiven.. Don’t come to see me at a night time or take the protection of a guard. I’m unsure of my actions sometimes” turned his looks over his friends and continued “If you need to find me I shall be residing atop the hill, in the secret cave”

Reiven smiled bitterly as she remembers the warning and stood still for a moment in front of the big rock pillar against the mountainside. Even it was the first time she has been here; she knew what lies behind…

A circular entrance covered with dust and webs, a dark corridor which leads to another circular dead end room… No place to hide or run. She knew it from her dreams, trapped in its darkness many times. But this time she came with her free will to end her suffering.

“Death” whispered the voice in her head and she just smiled wryly, replying “No… It’s just my salvation…”
