It appears that miss Jackilyn has won the first fight against the Lung Fever. Her breathing stabilized and the fever gone down, her will is strong. I hope this continues, the battle isn't over yet.
Her mother left a doll underneath the woman's bed. No doubt something she was convinced of by a swindler. To give them such a doll and place it under the bed now, I can only assume that this swindler knows the disease, able to time their approach to it. Now that she is getting better, the swindler shall be praised, then, should it turn for the worse again, I will be the one to blame
I remember how many times father had to go through this cycle. Superstition triumphs over education, praised when all goes well, while the healer gets shunned and cursed when something goes wrong, when the false trinkets don't work.
I have no doubt that I'll have to hear of it from the woman's mother and father when they realize that her health is getting better.
