The year draws to a close. The midnight hour is near. Middle-earth has witnessed many many things this last year, for good and for ill. But now we stand at a crossroads, the past behind us and the future in front, ours to take. As a wise man once said, “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
Let us bring in the New Year with celebration! Let us remember those we have left behind but be joyous for those still with us, standing by our side.
We will meet where some of the most important journeys of this Third Age began… at Bag End, Hobbiton, the Shire. There we will set off fireworks, fly kites, drink good ale, sing and dance and music will be played. We will party like there is no tomorrow!
The road goes ever on…
A social gathering for New Year’s Eve, organised by Celetathar and Ranatuor. Celetathar’s band, Mithril Moon Fellowship, will provide music during the event. Other musicians are invited to join in!
Location
With great deliberation on several locations, it has been decided to host the event where everything began… Bag End, Hobbiton, the Shire. For some, the Fellowship have just completed their task, and it is two Hobbits (three if you count Gollum!) who bring the end to the Dark Lord Sauron with the destruction of the Ring.
We’ll hold it around the picnic tables and gazebo, just above Bag End and the Party Tree, on top of the Hill. There’s a nice view from up there towards Hobbiton.

Times
Since Laurelin is an EU server, in reality players on Laurelin will see the New Year in at different times. Rather than set one time, which excludes others, from at least 16.00 /servertime (9pm GMT), there will be a presence on the Hill to celebrate with others.
To assist you work out when that all is, below is a time-zone comparison chart, based on GMT (UK) times and their /servertime equivalent.

What will we do?
This will be a RP-lite event, you can RP if you want to, but please note there will be others attending who won’t be RPing at all.
Fireworks will be set off! Supplies available.
Drinks and food will be consumed.
Dancing & Singing.
Music – Celetathar of the Mithril Moon Fellowship band has kindly offered to play music during the event. He has also welcomed other musicians to join in!
