Entry Eighteen: Unexpected Meeting
Time for action was soon to commence. One had been lying in wait, watching and learning the movements of the Blackwold Camp of the man named, Jagger Jack. Knowing the paths of the patrols and the times between them, one would soon be able to slip by and rescue those prisoners that have been taken. But not this night…
Movement could be heard in the distance. One could feel it. Had he made a mistake? Leaving unwanted tracks for another to follow? One would prepare himself for what would follow. These “Wanted” Posters, proving difficult to escape, no doubt many an adventurer or sellsword would seek to claim the reward. One has escaped this fate for many years, but these things shall always resurface in time. That time had come…
Drawing one’s sword, he would call out to who would approach. A young woman, hidden beneath a hood. She spoke in the common tongue, asking if one carried any information on that of the “Grey Warden”. One would yet reveal his identity, playing coy with the woman. She claimed one to be innocent, seeking only to ask certain questions. Could one trust her? She bore a resemblance of someone of his past, yet he would not ask of it.
She called herself “Greywolf”, a name apparently given to her by her father. She was accompanied by a wolf, who would howl loudly. It was not until then, one would lower his guard. The woman used the Sindarin tongue, such one had not shared for some time. One would reveal to the woman, who he was. She seemed pleased and began to speak more freely. She spoke of a man, one of his kin…
Though one’s trust for those belonging to the same bloodline, was shattered in the depths of Moria, she spoke of one that he owed a debt. His name was Halbrandth, a Dúnedain who one met in search of the traitor, Kervan… Providing aide after what would occur within the Black Dens and supply one with a horse to ride. Though the woman would begin to shed a tear, when one would speak of Halbrandth and that of his betrothed, Gilaenah.
It was then, she removed her hood. The resemblance was almost identical. She now would introduce herself as Tarrah, daughter of Halbrandth and Gilaenah. One could not answer for the whereabouts of her father, but inside would feel that the debt should be passed on to his next of kin. One would speak with Tarrah, deep into the early hours. Though on awakening, she was gone…
