Journal 380th entry, Green Dragon Friday, Riddles

Dear Mother and Father,

Today I helped Binnie with some farmwork. Well, we proved I'm no real farmer! I spilled some seeds and nearly trampled the crops. I don't think she was very pleased with that. She was growing some pipeweed I think. In the evening, I visited the Green Dragon Inn. I'm becoming quite a regular! I was hoping Rowana would be there, but sadly she wasn't. I was both afraid and excited that she might have news for me. Oh well. The evening itself went well. Lina played her lute wonderfully well again and Bootsy played her harp. Patula and Cordula were there again as well. Cordula has become much less shy and danced with us. I remember the first time I attended, I was far too nervous to dance or say anything! I think very few of the hobbits attending even noticed I was there!

Tonight there were a few new hobbits. One named Bero and another called Gradoc. They danced too, though they could not dance as long as the girlhobbits! I got the impression Bero was rather taken with Cordula. Then we had riddles. I even guessed one! I had one ready that I made up and no one guessed it! It went like this:

I am the beginning of life. I am round as a ring. I am in heaven and when you find me you will be too. I am the beginning and end of existence. What am I?

No one could guess what it was! Can you? All in all I had a very good time except for one little thing. Patula was acting rather oddly, hardly said a word to me all night! Made me feel rather uncomfortable, though I think I hid it well. Simbo wasn't around this evening, perhaps she was pining for him?

Your loving Zara
