On 2660 of the Third Age, the 8th of Tuilë

Dearest Family,

It has been one week since my last letter, and my heart feels the urge to contact you again.

I have been kept quite safe and well within Fangorn Forest. The trees here do not allow foul things into these woods, though they themselves can be rather grumpy. I wish I could understand why. They spoke of the great woods of the First Age, which you, Mother, spoke of often, and how they have since dwindled. The cause seems clear, yet, I know but do not understand. I do, however, feel their sadness.

There is a great deal of unique wildlife in these woods, and although they are not as long-lived as the Ents, they keep great wisdom. And they speak much swifter than the trees, which is lovely when holding a conversation. It took a full day simply to exchange greetings with the Ents when I met them. Still, their speech is quite relaxing to hear, and I often fall asleep listening to their old stories.

Ah, I have just remembered. I have used Brother's hammock, and it works quite well, though the winds can be strong in the higher boughs and so I must secure the hammock with rope, much like a cocoon. It is quite comfortable, and although is not a flet, it reminds me much of home.

I have remained close to the River Limlight thus far, but soon shall journey south to the River Entwash. Several of the Ents have agreed to accompany me, even to carry me, they are long of word and of stride. Can you believe it, Mother? It is such an honour to ride upon the shoulders of Ents!

I plan on staying in the forest some months yet, perhaps even a full year, given how long it takes for the Ents to speak. Their knowledge is old so I would be remiss if I did not take this opportunity. Still, I wish they would have kept a Library.

All my love and longing,
Cesistya
