Annuminas

Rannie made her way down to the fallen angmarim as quick as she could without drawing too much attention to herself. If she had any doubt before, she had none now the man was very much dead as his eyes stared blankly into the sky and his neck misshapen from the broken bones within.  Guilt bubbled up inside her till it nearly made her sick to her stomach. She didn’t want to hurt him more than a bump on the head. She had just needed his clothing.

“What are ya doin lass?” She scolded herself quietly and started to remove his clothing. “These are bad men and your sittin here feelin all bad bout him fallin. Wasn’t even really your fault ya fool!” Once the clothes were removed, she did her best to cover up the body so hopefully it would go un-noticed for as long as possible. She dressed in the Angmarim’s clothing and took a deep breath, remembering everything she had observed in the last couple of days and adopting it as her own. Pulling the hood up over her head, she walked into the city of Annuminas as if she belonged there.

Rannie explored the separate camps as she performed whatever task someone would throw at her. Thankfully for her they were always menial tasks, like taking food or messages to someone and similar. She could see why Seaver was concerned about her doing this job. These were cruel men without a doubt.

They laughed and jested about the horrible things they had done to their captives or what they would like to do to the future ones. It look all her will power to smirk and share in their morbid mirth.  However the worst was when she was ordered to join in on the beating of one of the Angmarim that failed some duty and that was his punishment. She had to admit, after a few days it was starting wear on her. She had to find that commander and those orders and find them soon.

Finally after her fourth day in Annuminas, she finally found the commander when she was charged with bringing him food.  As she laid the large plate of food onto the table next to him, taking note of the papers next to him.  They were written in a language she’d never seen before but the letters were written in harsh forms that just seemed cruel in themselves. Up on the top of the paper was a broken seal that had a crown.  As the commander waved her off with an exacting dismissive wave, Rannie started planning on how she was going to get her hands on those orders.

Rannie waited till it was nearly three hours before sunrise that she got up from the crude tent where the lower ranking members slept and crept to the commander’s tent. She smirked as she noticed the guard had fallen asleep. With as much care, she passed him and slipped into the tent where the commander laid along with several bed warmers. Rannie scowled as she made her way to the table where she saw the papers last, how many women did one man need?

Thankfully the orders still rested where she had last seen them. Carefully she peeled off the seal before placing the orders in her robe. She took out another set of papers she had taken from another camp and placed the seal on those. She set the papers down and as quickly and quietly as she could, Rannie snuck back out of the tent and out of the city. She returned to the bush where she had hid before and had stashed her clothing.

Changing quickly, she tossed away the robes and tucked away the orders in her shirt before taking off in a run down the road, to return back to Tinnudir.  Rannie smirked as she walked into the settlement and most the dunedain didn’t even try to hide their surprise at seeing her alive and well. “Well Rat, you return to us...” their leader stated when he saw her again.  “But were you successful?” Rannie took out the orders from where she had stored away with a smirk.

“As much as I’d love ta stay in chat with ya, I think I’m ready ta go home and get these ta me friend as soon as possible. So I’ll just get me horse and be on me way,” she explained, starting to feel homesick after her time in Annuminas.

"Of course Rat, I’ll make sure everything is prepared for you to leave within the hour,” he says and true to his word Rannie was mounted up and ready to leave. To her surprise, he had tasked two of his men to see that Rannie made it safely to the halfling’s land preferring not to pass through the field of Fornost once more. “Take care little rat…it seems you are much more resourceful than you would appear” he told her and she gave him a smirk and a nod before giving her horse a kick to start off down the road at a trot.
