Fields of Green

Fields of Green

A veil of mist lies on the fields
Imagine all that it conceals
You peer into the foggy night
But nothing ever comes to sight
Out yonder where the fields are green

Your lantern gives the palest light
Wrestling with the dark of night
You’re all alone here in the world
Lost inside a misty twirl
Out yonder where the fields are green

You hear a rustling noise out there
The sound of breathing in the air
There could be wolves out on the prowl
Although you cannot hear them growl
Out yonder where the fields are green

A merry greeting reaches you
The faintest light comes shining through
A warm embrace makes you defrost
Together with the friends you’d lost
Out yonder where the fields are green

Mist gives way to light
Sunny rays so bright
Deep blue sky serene
On the fields of green

And when you go on
You are not alone
Danger can’t be seen
On the fields of green
