There are countless stains on the page where ink has smudged, possibly from tears. The writing seems hurried and clumsy.

It has been such a long time since I last written. I have been preoccupied with Defenders business as of late. I was involved in a battle at Gondamon in Ered Luin, many were injured including myself. I was lucky enough to be pulled out of the fray by Zelderan just in time. I had been poisoned by a spider bite and could not walk on my right leg.
