Visiting them Elves

We were greeted by two tall, stern faced Elves. They weren't that welcoming ter be honest, no tea or cake, but neither did they ignore us, or tell us ter go away. It was a serious matter right enough, fer them as well as us.

I ask them if we can speak ter High Lord Parnard, Lord Estarfin or Lady Danel, but they say them are not there at the moment. Then, rightly or wrongly Lithea tells them about Henepa and Gaisarix being taken by brigands, and the Elves look meaningfully at each other.

Parnard rose to his feet and bowed before Estarfin as he approached us. He looked a little weary to me, though not overly so. We tried to take regular shifts of guard duty, he and I, Yrill and Ceuru and Filignil. Barahirn protested he was also able to take his turn, but we deemed he needed a couple more weeks rebuilding his strength.

“I was hoping to drag Naergon out of his musings, but I haven’t seen him all day,” Earcalie said. “He has moved here as well. Waiting to make his mind up about sailing. You do remember him?”

Estarfin joined us, giving his greetings to Earcalie. He sat down beside me.

"Earcalie does important work, guarding the caravans from the coast, meldanya. But I would have her take extra care." I said.

I glanced at Hingalas, knowing what was to follow. Although he was merrily helping himself to the food he had selected, his eyes had that gleam of sudden keenness that I recognised. From the edge of my vision I saw Parnard gulp.

Not as much fun as Dancing

'He drew me closer, and we danced as if it was for the first time. The music of the Prince’s Ball in Thargelion was in our minds and steps, that we moved as one. And I thought how much more I enjoyed the dance than smiting the dummies earlier. I was happy, and he knew it.

Inactivity?

Ceuro struggles with Estarfin's inactivity regarding the sudden news. He understands Estarfin's thoughts concerning how duplicitous Culufinnel can be, but having seen the site near Duillond, and the man's body, having seen the state of Pelorian and Swanfoot, he cannot help but be concerned for Danel and Parnard. He is glad that at least, Yrill is trying to comfort the weeping Marawendi.

Yrill and Ceuro steady Barahirn as he takes his first steps outside. He is weak on his legs still, but the bones have healed well. Filignil supervises.

Estarfin opened his mouth to speak, but then looked away. “We should make preparations,” he said softly. But that was not his original thought.

I tilted my head and reached out to him again, “What is it?” I asked, sensing his reticence.
