Outward Appearance
Although Aefenleoht seems proud at first glance – her back straight, shoulders thrown back a little in nonchalant way that would make her seem confident and at ease where she is – upon studying her a little better, one can discern that her grey eyes anxiously dart from one thing to another, as if she were constantly on her guard, or perhaps in a mind to take in as many things as possible at the same time. She has a habit of pressing her lips together when concentrating or listening intently, though her face is pleasant enough to look at – with a complexion glowing with sunlight and exercise, sporting grey, alert eyes, and a waterfall of thick white-blonde locks falling unto her shoulders she seems a typical, unspoiled, provincial sort of girl. Aefenleoht’s figure is well-shaped and strong with the demanding physical work she has done for most of her life. Her garments are cheap, worn, and practical.

Background

Aefenleoht had always led a relatively simple sort of life – being a quick learner and naturally skilled with her hands, she picked up the basics of a few trades in the village she called home and together with her mother was always easily able to provide food for the pot. Being generally cheerful, never complaining and bright enough to make the best out of every situation, she married young and picked up some additional expertise in sheepfarming, in which her husband made his living. Unfortunately, her simple way of life came to an end rather abruptly when her mother died of flu during the winter at age forty nine, and not two months later her husband was carried home from the fields, with a wound in his leg, and died of infection after a fever only days later. Being much stricken with the grief of loss for the first time in her life, Aefenleoht sold what little belongings she had the moment word reached her ear that a caravan nearby would set off for the north. Being able to do various kinds of handiwork, she was accepted to travel with the caravan and, after a long journey, ended up in Bree-land. Although her mother had not told her much about her father and brother, who had left them to accompany a trade escort when Aefenleoht was only little, she was still able to remember a few names by memory and started asking around the little villages when she passed them. Eventually she found herself a job as a maid in the house of a relatively wealthy farmer, and got on with her new life as well as she could, usually smiling, but never speaking much and never complaining. She even made a friend or two when she visited town on her rare days off, and, after a few months had passed, a familiar name made its entrance into her life. Waiting for one of the stable-hands to say goodbye to his mates when they were in Bree-town, she overheard a group of men speaking of the Rohir Aefenwine, who they’d left behind in Combe after an argument. Not wishing to waste any opportunity to find out if he could, indeed, be her brother, she sneaked away from the farm early the next day to see if she could find any trace of him in Combe. What a shock she had when she found this man /was/ her brother! What’s more, what a shock that they looked quite so alike. What’s /even/ more, what a shock that she knew nothing about him, at all…
