| Outward Appearance | At first glance, Démagud does not seem like a fellow you would want to strike up a conversation with. He seems constantly in a bad mood, answers brusquely, if at all, and the frown wrinkles on his forehead have by now become permanent. He does not look like a typical Eorling; his hair is a shade darker than most of his kin's and, while his body isn't necessarily slim, he is not quite as tall as the average man of Rohan. Everything else, however, is as Rohirric as they come: he is stubborn, independent, at times grave, but brotherly and equipped with both a great sense of justice and immense knowledge of horses. He usually wears a linen tunic, a red vest that reaches his thighs, wide pants, shoes of soft leather and woolen leg wraps. It is also important to note that he loses his left leg during the Battle of the Pelennor. |

Background
Démagud was born as the younger of two sons of Thane Démaræth of Elthengels. Feeling always relegated to the shadow of his older brother Démawine, he early found his own areas of interest: horse husbandry and sword fighting instead of the things his brother had to concern himself with, like politics and economics.
The brothers' best friend in their youth was the aspiring shieldmaiden Hroswyn, who Démagud would often goad into joining in all kinds of mischief. It seemed like everything he did was in an attempt to vex his brother, whose budding sense of responsibility would render him more and more absent from their youthful games as they aged. By the age of 19 and 16, Démagud and Hroswyn begun a turbulent romantic relationship, and generally seemed to be working hard to gain his brother's disapproval.
However, in the same summer - it was the year 3003 T.A. - Thane Démaræth succumbed to a poisoned arrow after an Orcish ambush. Feeling unfit to replace him, his wife Hilderitha passed the post of Thane on to the older of the brothers, who struggled greatly with the loss and the new responsibility. Démagud, however, had no interest in supporting his brother in his new office; the two would shortly after have a fall-out, causing him to leave Elthengels and settle in Harwick.
Since then, he's known as Ansel Guda, a peculiar recluse who owns a little stud out north and is happiest in the company of his horses and dog. He has two personal horses: a bay stallion called Paxton, given to him as a foal by his father, and the flaxen chestnut mare Frigha, who he met and bought by chance as a yearling and who then became his most trusted and valued partner.
One day, he finds himself in the middle of a conspiracy when he's arrested for helping a traitor escape. Démagud isn't conscious of having done wrong; but now an envoy of the King is supposed to issue a judgement - and he can't quite believe his eyes when the jail doors open and he looks into the eyes of his own brother. The man he betrayed and left now holds control of his very life.
