Outward Appearance

Race/Ethnicity – Race of Man, Dúnadan, Descendant of the Númenóreans.

Gender – Male.

Skin Tone – Caucasian, his skin is paler than most despite him spending a lot of time outside. But this may be due to his attire covering most of his skin, or his time spent in the North.

Eye Colour  Like most of his kin, he has grey eyes – his eyes are a cloudy-grey that seems paler than the other greys. One will notice that his eyes seem to be watchful but also compassionate, making him look both kind and dangerous.

Hair – He has short dark hair with small strands of the hair sticking out unusually, nevertheless the dark hair is also common amongst the Dúnedain.

Height – 6’3 foot tall.

Size/Build – He is a muscular man, clearly fit for battle, yet he is not muscular to the point where he is rather heavy and slow, but rather the opposite – he is as strong as you expect for him to be, and nimble on his feet.

Attire – He is fond of his grey attire – a grey tunic with boots, a hood and cape, and tends to wear that oft. But he also wears attire of a dark green/light brown too, yet in any case, one who would meet him would see that he has the “look” of a traveller, or rather wanderer.

Physical Distinctions – Most noticeably, Nenusidh has a deep scar on the left-side of his forehead, clearly gained through fighting, but Nenusidh seemingly is more secretive behind the origin of the scar. He has more scars, although less visible – one faded-white scar on the alongside the back of his leg and a long jagged-scar through his chest and down to his stomach, are amongst many.

Habits – He has no “bad” habits, yet it should be noted that Nenusidh is perhaps more cautious than most, due to him being in isolation for some years due to some incidents in the North. Nevertheless, that perhaps made him a better warrior and person overall. He is also loyal to a fault, for he would risk much for a person he loves or cares deeply, thus making his loyalty almost unquestionable.

Background

Basic Information:

Birth Name: Nenusidh (‘Peaceful Water’) Son of Brethilon (‘Beech’).

Other Names/Titles:

  • Magor (Sindarin for ‘Swordsman’) (A name given to him by the Elves of Rivendell, and a name he commonly gives to other people should he need to give a name).
  • Dyghus (Ancient Celtic for ‘Great Strength’) (A name given to him by the Chieftain of Aughaire, whilst on his duty in Angmar. This name was out of ‘respect’ for what aid he has given.)
  • Arrow (Westron/Common Tongue) (Even though Nenusidh spends very little time in Bree-lands, what time he does spend is mostly hunting down dangerous creatures/people of trouble, leading many of Combe to assume he is a bounty-hunter. And due to his proficient archery skills, many in Combe have dubbed him as “Arrow”, an unoriginal name for one whose name is not known to them.).
  • Quickblade (Westron/Common Tongue) (This is a title that Nenusidh has earned whilst he was in Ered Luin, the Dwarves noticed his speed and prowess as a swordsman and named him ‘Quickblade’, for it has proved useful in many tasks and situations that occurred within the Blue Mountains. As such, he is also known to a variety of dwarves there.)

Date of Birth: 17th May 2911 T.A.

Age (as of 3018 T.A.): 107 winters-old.

Age on sight: 30-33, years of age. Due to the Dunedain’s youthful appearance, whilst he is nearly eleven decades ago, he looks to be a middle-aged adult.

Occupation: It depends on who you ask and who you are. The simple answer would be ‘Ranger’, but in different places, he is known to have an “occupation” i.e. in Combe, he is assumed (a wrong assumption but an assumption nevertheless) to be a bounty-hunter, whilst in Ered Luin, most would believe he is a warrior, whilst in the Lone-lands, he is believed to be a mercenary/wanderer.

Place of Birth: Esteldín, the North Downs, Arnor, Eriador.

Education: He knows how to read and write exceptionally, for one of his interests does reside in a ‘scholarly’ interest. He didn’t have “formal” education whilst as a child, but he had been taught by his parents respectively to read and write in some basic level, and when he got older and begun wandering, a friend of his taught him to do so in a more skilful manner.

Languages (if any): As a Dúnadan, Nenusidh learnt Westron (The Common Tongue of Man) and Sindarin, and thus is very fluent in these two tongues. He never was taught Quenyan formally, but he does know a few words – not enough to construct an entire conversation though. He spent much time in the North, and this includes Forochel (he has not spent as much time in there as Angmar or the Misty Mountains) thus he learnt much of their tongue; he knows enough to construct a long conversation and thus could be considered “fluent”.

Current Residence: He is nomadic but he is, due to his aid to other peoples, lived in other regions and towns and is considered a “citizen” of that place i.e. he is a great friend to the people of Aughaire thus has a home there and he also is considered a citizen of Sûri-kylä (capitol of the Lossoth). He also spends a lot of time in Tinnudir and Esteldín, and has resided there. Nevertheless, he loves the wilderness, the woods and trees, and would consider that to be his “true home”.

Family, Friends and Relationships:

Father: Brethilon son of Glawaron (‘Sunlight/Radiance’) (Deceased).

Mother: Merileth (‘Rose’) (Deceased).

Siblings (in order of age):

  • [M] Lagoron (‘Swift/Rapid’) son of Brethilon. (Deceased) (Would have been 114 years old).

Marital Status: Married.

Children (if any):

  • [F] Cugweth (‘Dove’) daughter of Nenusidh. (Aged 34).
  • [M] Lagoron II son of Nenusidh. (Aged 29).

Relationships (with other family members):

Brethilon “Candguron” (‘Brave/Bold Heart’) (His Father):

Nenusidh and Brethilon had a good father-son relationship, for they were alike, and Nenusidh is the man today due to his father. His father taught him archery, swordsmanship (for he already shown great skill at this at a young age), hunting, gathering, amongst many other things. Brethilon also believed in charity and fortitude greatly, causing him to a great warrior, and also passing this down onto his sons. Brethilon was also known for being prideful (not to a bad extent though, to the point of hubris) of his sons, for he believed that they will do well in life and loved them deeply. However, when his eldest son (Lagoron) perished, Brethilon broke into depression for the love of his son and gave Nenusidh the task of avenging his brother’s death. Twelve years after Lagoron’s death, Brethilon died of old age.

Merileth (‘Rose’) (His Mother):

Nenusidh had a loving relationship with his mother, and whilst his father taught him combat and how to survive, his mother taught him compassion and more domestic skills such as cooking, herbology and medicine, literacy, history and his languages – Sindarin and Westron. Merileth loved both of her sons deeply as well, and thus it saddened her deeply when Lagoron perished, and she mourned alongside her husband. It was either through fate, or through her bond with Brethilon, but twelve years after her eldest son’s death, she perished of old age alongside her husband.

Lagoron “Iston” (‘Knowledge’) (His Brother):

Nenusidh had always loved his brother, and vice versa. From a very young age, the two would often train together under their father and whilst Nenusidh showed clear signs of high swordsmanship early on, Lagoron always had preferred a bow to the blade but he always used tactics to his advantage. Thus, he often uses his perception and insight to win battles against those stronger than him, making him highly-skilled and strong warrior. From a very young age, Lagoron had expressed interest in traveling to distant lands and learning their history and cultures, this is where he differed from Nenusidh who cared less so. When Lagoron turned into adulthood, he begun the wandering and quickly gained notoriety and reputation within the lands of Evendim and the North Downs, for Lagoron although had a strong fondness for Annúminas and Fornost, and despite the two cities being fallen, he still desired to travel to them and uncover relics and lost pieces of history. A couple of years later, Lagoron tended to wander even further to those “distant” lands and he spent much time in the Lone-lands, Trollshaws and the Misty Mountains, he spent quite a number of decades there. Lagoron soon was known as “Iston” or Knowledge, for he was very wise in literature, history, geography, many things and it is said that he was oft visited by Men and Dwarves for his wisdom. However, all good things had to come to an end, whilst he was in the Misty Mountains; he was ambushed by the recent number of goblins. Such a grim tiding, for his family, and thus Nenusidh, for the love of his brother, set out to the Mountains to get vengeance.

Iveril (‘Crystal’) daughter of Aelon (His Wife):

Iveril is also a Dúnadan, yet she is not a Ranger like Nenusidh is. She grew up in Tinnudir and she spent much of her life as a scholar and a scribe, for like Lagoron she enjoyed history and literature immensely, as well as studying artefacts and relics from the many ruins of Evendim. She is known as compassionate and kind-hearted, but true and firm, for she believed in honesty and empathy above all. Nenusidh came to meet her, for the first time, at seventy winters old, in Tinnudir. Nenusidh had come from Forochel and greatly desired to seek an old friend to gain advice on troubling news concerning Forochel, yet in his place, he found Iveril, who told him that his friend was on a journey that’d take a few weeks. This was grave news to Nenusidh, but he was instructed by Iveril to share to her what counsel he should seek. It was not a magical moment of love nor did it begin their “friendship”, but through Iveril’s counsel, Nenusidh had a new-found respect of her wisdom. It was months later that they met, but the next time they met, it was Iveril who sought aid for she needed support in retrieving a certain artefact from Annúminas, despite the danger there. He intentionally refused, but then was persuaded against his better judgement due to his kindness. This was the moment, where the two did begin their friendship, for upon recovering this artefact, the two decided to work closer together to uncover the history of the artefact. In the process, this was when they fell in love and wed. Three years later, they had their first child – Cugweth, and five years after that, Lagoron II was born. For a time, Nenusidh did spend a while living with his wife and children until his children became an age where they were more “capable” and where his duties were needed once more, despite so, Nenusidh’s love for Iveril causes him to visit her most frequently.

Cugweth (‘Dove’) daughter of Nenusidh (His daughter):

Nenusidh has a close bond with his daughter, and it was perhaps her birth where he was most happy ever since his brother’s death. Cugweth, from a young age, showed talent in art and music as well as domestic activities such as cooking. During Cugweth’s childhood, Nenusidh felt quite happy and proud, and for the first time, he knew how his own father felt about his two sons. But he also was afraid, that he’d suffer the same kind of pain that his parents suffered from Lagoron’s death, thus he perhaps became too overprotective of his children especially Cugweth. Often, she would tell her to avoid straying from Tinnudir, or not play with weapons, or interact with distrustful folk – Nenusidh loved his daughter deeply, and could be said that she meant the world to him. Cugweth also had a strong love for history due to her mother’s tales and stories, and Nenusidh’s increasing passion for history also, thus Nenusidh often told her the histories behind the cultures of those he has met – of Angmar and Forochel, as well as many other things which interested her greatly. When, she became of age, she begun to work with her mother as a scholar and scribe, whilst also conducting in other creative activities.

Lagoron II son of Nenusidh (His Son):

When, Nenusidh learnt he would be fathering a son, he knew from the beginning, he would name him ‘Lagoron’ to honour his brother, and this was not a poor decision for Lagoron II was much like his namesake. When Nenusidh first begun to teach him of the many skills a Ranger would need, he was astonished with Lagoron’s quick capability in battle and his quick learning with how to use a bow and blade, so much so, that it didn’t take him long to master the bow. He was less proficient with the blade, much like his namesake, but Lagoron II was also quite reckless for unlike his namesake, he was not as wise nor did he trust in tactics very much, but rather he was an expert in stealth. So much so, that he trusted the shadows over open-combat, and often killed an enemy from behind, caught unaware. Something, Nenusidh is not too proud off and says that “It is better to fight with honour than secrecy.” He believes it is better to address an enemy before killing him, rather than senseless killing him without the foe knowing. Either way, Nenusidh knows that within time Lagoron will grow wiser and more experienced within age, as he is aware that the recklessness is due to his young age, and still loves his son greatly.

Relationships (with other peoples):

Dúnedain –

Nenusidh, of course, has a great deal of respect and affection of his kindred and thus will often feel pleased, should he come across his kin in the wilderness or in their cities. However, in his life, he has spent many years in complete isolation from his kindred for his duties during his time in the North (Angmar, Forochel and Misty Mountains) as well as his time in Enedwaith, thus he had not seen any Rangers nor Dúnedain for a long while. By the Rangers, he is known as either Nenusidh or Magor.

Elves –

Like all Dúnedain, he is friendly towards elves and as such, he has visited Imladris (Rivendell) many a time and thus knows the city and its people well. Oft, when he comes to Imladris, he would spend time in the library or catching up with a few of his friends there. He hold elves in high regard, for both his kin’s friendliness towards them and the fact that they aided him when he was seeking vengeance for his brother’s death.

Dwarves –

It is not often that he goes to the Blue Mountains; perhaps he has only entered there thrice? Nor did he ever plan to, for his interest and duties remains in Angmar whilst straying towards Forochel and other regions. In fact, he stumbled into the dwarves by chance. For upon returning from his time in the North, he journeyed into the Bree-lands to see how the town of Combe was faring and whether it’d need aid. When arriving in Combe, he came across a traveling dwarf with a worried expression on his face. When the two conversed with one another, Nenusidh learnt that the dwarf was searching for a capable warrior who would be willing to deal with a certain threat in Haudh Lin, concerning the Dead. Nenusidh said he’d look into it, and that was his first act of aid towards the dwarves. Once that task was looked into and solved, he did a handful more concerning the safety of the road as well as other things and he soon enough gained the title “Quickblade” when a couple of dwarves saw him in combat.  After a season of aiding the dwarves, he left the Blue Mountains for two years before returning once again, to look into the growing goblin-threat and aiming to weaken this threat, before leaving once again. The third and final time (thus far) was fourteen years after this, and it was to answer a call to one dwarf-friend concerning the safety of the Vale of Thrain. This was all years ago, and perhaps he shall return once more, but despite only three visits, the name Quickblade is known or at least ‘heard of’ amongst the dwarves of the Blue Mountains.

Men of Combe –

Nenusidh (or “Arrow” being his name there) has a fondness for Combe, which he finds to be much peaceful and comforting, than the streets of Bree-town where he can sense the corruption of power and the unbalance in wealth. He has first entered Combe, two decades ago, to travel into the Marshes and into the Lone-lands. He did not expect to have to find a Constable of Combe requesting for his aid to deal with bolder brigands who thought it to be fine-and-well to kidnap one person whilst he to be traveling. Nenusidh did not turn the Constable down and journeyed into the Chetwood (with the Constable) to find this group of brigands, who had holed up in the ruins (at the time they were few) and was planning to ransom their captive. The two stopped these brigands, and broke into combat. Unfortunately, Nenusidh lost his blade in the fight and had to resort to using his bow to fend off the enemies. Due to Nenusidh’s skill with a bow in comparison to the brigands’ skill in combat, each was slain quickly and the captive was rescued. When the captive and the Constable asked for his name, Nenusidh did not reply for clear reasons and it was from there, that they called him “Arrow” due to his skill with archery, and became known as. Since then, he had been thought to be a bounty-hunter since for many a time, he had arrived to slay some beast or threat that would trouble Combe, but many question Arrow’s goals and morals since he’d often eliminate the threat with gratitude nor coin, leading many to speculate that he is a Ranger. But surely, Rangers are queer folk that have no business with Bree-folk? Nevertheless, the Folk of Combe trusts the “Arrow” more than most other Rangers, for their shady personality and respect him.

Men of Ost Guruth –

It was actually one of Lagoron (his brother)’s roles to watch over Ost Guruth and the surrounding area thus when he fell, Nenusidh took his upon himself to take that role and do things as his brother did. Due to Lagoron’s relationship with the folk of Ost Guruth (in Ost Guruth, he was known as Iston), there are those that know that he was Nenusidh’s brother. They know him as Magor – Swordsman, and whenever he comes again, he usually wanders into Haragmar and then perhaps further to see how it fares or journeys south, before leaving entirely.

The Hill-men of Aughaire –

After hearing the growing problems concerning Angmar, Nenusidh decided to journey into Angmar and resolve the issues. Little did he realize that he’d spend a big portion of his life there (for the past fifty or sixty years, his main duty was concerned with Angmar). When he arrived in Aughaire, he was forced by the Chieftain to accept a “Fém” in order to prove oneself to the tribe, and since Nenusidh believed he’d be in Angmar for a long while, he accepted. It would be in Aughaire that he’d find a Fém, or a tribal duty. By order of the Chieftain, he was to do a series of challenges to prove his worth and purpose to the tribe and Aughaire. This stretched from slaying beasts, to searching for items to finally besting one in combat. Upon completion of proving his worth, the Chieftain granted him a new name: “Dyghus”, meaning the ‘Great Strength’. For a time, he consulted with the Trév Gállorg (the Tribe that the people of Aughaire were), to find out what has troubled Aughaire and Angmar of late. And he had learnt that a great evil has risen again, in the far north of Angmar. Thus, he had decided that the great evil must be halted as long as he can muster – for forty years, he has slain many beasts and creatures and did all he could to venture more and more into the terrible places of Angmar. Most of the time, he was not alone as he’d either gain aid through the willing Hill-men from Aughaire or the willing Rangers from Esteldín, but either way, Dyghus got quite a lot of respect and affection for his duty. So much so, that he is considered a citizen of Aughaire and a great friend of theirs, and the Chieftain.

The Lossoth –

For ten or so years of his life, Nenusidh had busied himself with looking into Forochel and looking after its people. As a result, he has done many tasks and through the space of ten-thirteen years, he has gained their trust and respect, as well as other things for he has learnt their tongue and customs, he is also considered to be a citizen of Sûri-kylä under the name of Magor. In this period of his life, Nenusidh, has learnt much as to how to survive in the extreme cold, as well as traveling on ice through shoes-of-bones… He is quite astonished, of the Lossoth for despite his time with the Trév Gállorg and learning their ways, the Lossoth are even more different and he also admires them, for despite the extreme cold conditions, they’ve adapted to live in such circumstances.

The Men of Lhanuch –

He had visited these men, and the town, once only. And very briefly, at that too. The first time, Nenusidh came to Lhanuch, to simply observe the people and the town, for to his knowledge – the town was the only town in all of Enedwaith. This resulted in him getting seen yet none cared and continued with their lives. In fact, he spent more time in the Mournshaws than with the people of Lhanuch which is not clear. This means that Nenusidh has no relationship whatsoever with the people of Lhanuch, and nor does he intend too, for his business is with the North, despite the few times he visited Enedwaith and Dunland (again he has no relationship with Dunlendings, as he never met any of them and only stayed in the wild).

Qualities, Skills and Traits/Characteristics:

Combat Skills:

Archery – As a Ranger, he would have great skill in archery and he has been taught how to use the bow-and-arrow, from his father, Brethilon. Whilst he is highly-skilled with the bow, it’s not as proficient or as great as his skill with the blade which he uses often, nor is he as skilled in archery as his brother – Lagoron. His skill with a bow is so “great” in the eyes of the men of Combe, thus he got the name ‘Arrow’ from them. He uses a simple wooden-longbow which has nothing special behind it other than the fact it was constructed by him, perhaps it is his arrows that is more interesting than the actual bow. For his arrows were not made by him but from another close friend. His arrows would be a dark green with the arrowhead being an unusual bright-green; this demonstrates that whomever fletched these arrows was a creative person. Either way, he has a total of twelve arrows in his quiver like this and thus he makes use of these arrows, and perhaps this was the reason of his name ‘Arrow’ in Combe.

Swordsmanship – From a young age, Nenusidh has shown an exceptionally high skill with a blade, which has been inherited from his own father’s swordsmanship skills. By the time he became an adult, he was indeed very strong and proficient with the blade so much so, that he became known as ‘Magor’ by the Elves and thus, that became the name he’d give out, should they need to know. He soon got a second name concerning his swordsmanship by the Dwarves known as ‘Quickblade’. When he became of age, Brethilon (his father) gave him his blade – ‘Gwennor’, perhaps an unusual name for a sword since it means “Bond/Friendship” yet it was a gift from an elven smith, when his old blade broke, and was made out of their friendship. To this day, Nenusidh carries this sword with pride and affection, for it was ‘as close to a family sword’ that you could wish for. Gwennor is a beautiful bastard-sword that can be wielded with one-hand or two-hand depending on one’s strength, he wielded it with one. There was only two times in his life that he lost his blade in battle and either had to fight unarmed or with a bow, unwillingly that is, one time was in Combe and the other was in Angmar – perhaps one cause for the name ‘Dyghus’.

Spearman – Whilst he is no stranger to a spear, he is not as skilled with it as with a blade or a bow. He first learnt to use it in Angmar, and could see the usefulness behind it, thus he carried on wielding it amongst his other weapons. It was also a useful weapon to hunt with in Forochel, and ensuring he survives many a time in the wastes of Forochel. Perhaps with given time, Nenusidh can come to master the spear more in situations in combat but for now, it is not his main concern to master the spear, much preferring other weapons over it.

Domestic/Peaceful Skills:

Cooking – Nenusidh has been taught by his mother more domestic skills, perhaps an ill-idea considering a Ranger would “rarely” spend time “home” yet it did prove useful for him. He knows how to use a stove and fire to cook meals, and what ingredients to gather when creating certain meals. When he was living a peaceful period of his life in Tinnudir with his wife and his young children, Nenusidh used his cooking skills most often and was respected for his food amongst his family, and by others that he’d expressed this skill with.

Herbology – A skill that all Rangers need, to know what herbs and plants will treat a person and how so. In his life, he has treated quite a few people – friends and strangers alike, with his knowledge of herbology. Yet, in lands like Angmar, this knowledge is almost fruitless for there is a lack of plant growth. It is a similar situation for Forochel where the everlasting winter makes it very difficult to find any vegetation of any sort. Nevertheless, his skill is useful in the lands where it can be used best, and ensured much survival.

Riding – He can ride well enough, although a majority of his life was spent on foot and without a horse. Yet, he did learn to ride a horse in his childhood should he ever need speed and haste or a simple means to travel. It was only in recent years that he has acquired a true steed of his own, named Hwestil (‘Breeze’), for her speed is high. Hwestil usually tarries in the Combe-stables, where he’ll leave his steed under the strict order that she’ll have the best care possible (and the ‘Arrow’ can be scary to people when he wants to be). Whenever he returns to Combe, he’d usually take Hwestil for a while before returning her back to Combe-stables to ensure that she is safe.

Social Skills – This very much depends, of course. At certain situations and around certain people/peoples, he can be kind and compassionate and very extroverted, and also expressing laughter and humour. In other situations, Nenusidh can be intimidating – this is useful around enemies if he should wish to get information. He could be angry or bitter in these situations, as well as “harsh”. Whilst in other situations, he’ll rarely talk, and do very little. It very much depends, on who you are, where you are, and what has happened.

Traits:

Loyalty – Nenusidh is very loyal, perhaps loyal to a fault. This is because he’ll do anything for his people (Dúnedain) and his Chieftain. From living in Angmar, he would now consider the Hill-men of Aughaire to be “his people”, in a different sense of course, and thus he’d be loyal to him. He’ll do anything for his friends, family, people he loves, people he respects, even to whom he only recently met. I would say “loyal to a fault” for this may cause him to do some rash decisions, such as protecting a friend’s dead body from mass amounts of orcs/enemies, as an example. He has been born with this virtue, and was also a key trait of Brethilon and Lagoron, so perhaps loyalty is a trait that the family admires and puts above most others.

Fortitude – Brethilon was a Ranger of Fortitude, and it was clear to him that his sons were brave too. Bravery is something that you cannot accuse Nenusidh to have a lack of, yet it could be confused with stubbornness for the two are different apples underneath the same tree. One who does not know Nenusidh fully, will say that he is stubborn not brave. Yet, one who knows his bravery (The Hill-men, The Lossoth, Elves and his own Kin) will respect him more and not doubt his unwavering fortitude.

Compassion – He may not look kind or seem kind, if he does not trust nor know you. Yet, he oft puts himself above all else – thus his compassion and loyalty can align and seem like one. He believes that kindness is what makes one human, but he also believes kindness can be flawed and during his time in Angmar, he has realized how kindness can be a cruel thing thus he is careful of his compassion and not giving it out freely. His enemies do not gain compassion, whilst his friends do.

Charity – He is not a man who believes nor trusts in wealth, thus most wealth that he does gains are often used for charity. This is also a subject as to the few times that he has come to Bree-town was to part his “newfound wealth” to a majority of beggars. He also does this for a Combe, a town he greatly loves more than Bree-town. In other areas, where wealth is meaningless and food or trade is more significant, he would hunt or gather those things and part with them as charity. He does not like the word “rich” or “poor”, for he is perceptive enough to realize that the “rich” has simply given value to coins, which any man can do. And knows it to be the source of corruption and power i.e. with Bree-town.

Intimidation – From his time in Angmar, much of their customs and ways reflected onto him and he has become a more grim and violent man from such. As a result, he can appear intimidating or scary to most, as well as harsh and cold. This is exceptionally useful in torture and interrogation, where he’ll need information, and he also has knowledge in pain. For, he has suffered pain – emotionally and physically, and caused the suffering – thus he knows what hurts, what hurts more, and what hurts even more. This makes him a dangerous man, if you were his enemy.

Bitterness – When he is bitter and angry, he is even worse of an enemy then you will ever think he to be. One example was that when his brother, Lagoron, perished in the hands of goblins, he was enraged and journeyed all the way to the Misty Mountains in order to slay goblins to gain revenge. For two years of his life, he has done nothing more but endlessly hunt goblins in the entirety of the Misty Mountains. It was not until his elven-friends aided him with his grief, that he finally stopped feeling so bitter about Lagoron’s death. It should be noted, that he still hates goblins immensely, but not to the point where he will endlessly kill goblins any longer. This shows how if he is angry or in grief, what he is capable of.

Overprotective – Ever since, he fathered his first child, he had always feared losing them like his parents lost Lagoron. He did not want to feel grief and be consumed by it again. Thus, he became overprotective of his children especially Cugweth and he’d ensure that she would never leave Tinnudir, due to reports of brigands and other peoples. He is less overprotective of Lagoron II yet he made sure to teach him all he knows, and despite Lagoron’s recklessness, he made sure he is proficient enough with a bow and a blade to protect himself. He is also overprotective of his wife, Iveril, after almost losing her a couple of times whilst she was looking for historical items, and thus would often go to retrieve these items for her instead of her risking her life. This is a dangerous thing, as with his loyalty, it can cause him to do rash decisions should his family ever be in danger.

Beliefs:

Politics – He cares very little about politics and men in power, such as the Mayor of Bree whom he questions greatly concerning his holding of power and the general misbalance of rich and poor. The only man of “true” power that he cares of and believes in would the Chieftain of the Dúnedain, and whilst he is loyal to the Chieftain of Aughaire, there is a difference in politics and power for that Chieftain is a tribe-leader and simply another ‘Mayor’ of a town, yet one he knows greatly.

Philosophy – He is more perceptive than most would think he is. Since, he knows that wealth does not truly exist, nor is it of any worth. Thus, he is philosophical in that sense and greatly disregards wealth, “power” (a broad term, and the only ‘man of power’ he trusts in fully would be the Chieftain of all Dúnedain, Aragorn) as well as many other things. For example, he has felt a conflict in happiness and for a while, he has questioned what was “true” happiness which is another philosophical topic, and came to the conclusion of happiness being entirely controversial amongst other emotions, in the sense, that there is no happiness and that ‘happiness’ is merely constructed from other emotions. This means that, too he, true happiness is entirely up to interpretation.

Prejudice – He does not believe in “prejudice” of other races and peoples. He respects all the peoples, at the very minimal, and doesn’t allow prejudice to cloud his mind. He simply does what he has to do, as a Ranger, he does not hold prejudice against brigands but if he has to be cruel to get what he needs then he will do so. It is clear that orcs, goblins, and other evil beings of that sort are not classed as “peoples” in his mind and whilst he does not hold prejudice against them plainly (goblins is an exception, to a certain extent), he has every reason and belief to kill them if they’re trouble. And most of the time, they are.

Names and Their Origins:

Nenusidh

A name that a friend of mine has come up with (he knows who he is) which I’m grateful for. It means “Peaceful Water” in Sindarin. I’d pronounce it as “Ne-nus-id” with the ‘h’ being silent.

Brethilon

A name that means “Beech” in Sindarin, according to various sources. I don’t think the name is hard to pronounce: “Breath-Ill-on”.

Merileth

A name meaning “Rose” in Sindarin, according to various sources. Quite simple to pronounce: “Meril-eth”.

Lagoron

A name meaning “Swift” in Sindarin. I pronounce it as “Lag-Oar-on”.

Iveril

A name meaning “Crystal” in Sindarin. I pronounce it as “Ivv-er-el”, with the emphasis on the ‘Iv’ and the ‘il/el’.

Cugweth

It means “Dove” in Sindarin. A simple pronunciation of ‘Cug-weth’, one of those names where it sounds like as it looks.

Magor

It means “Swordsman” in Sindarin, and a name I’ve checked to make sure that it was a correct translation. It can be pronounced as “Mag-gore” or “Mag-orr” with emphasis on the ‘gore’ or the ‘orr’.

Dyghus

It means “Great Strength” in Ancient Celtic, a language that was used as a basis I believe for names in Angmar, as well as Gaelic (which is a sub-language within Ancient Celtic). It can be pronounced as either: “Die-gus” or “Di-ghh-us”, the last one having more focus on the “gh” sound.

Quotes of Importance:

(Will be updated with more quotes soon enough).

“Do not forget… The world is oft more cruel than fair.”

“Now listen here. I know what is pain, what is true pain… You will give me what I seek. No? How about this?! […] Don’t forget, mere bandit that is not the limit to your pain. This not torture. In fact, this is truly the very fragment of what your meaning of torture is.”

“My name? I suppose a name must be given. I am Magor.”

“Wealth is meaningless, and doesn’t truly exist.”

“I do as I will, and I do what I will. I do not need your gratitude.”

‘Who are you?’ Who am I? That depends. Who do you want me to be? Because, whoever you want me to be, is often not who I am.”

“One often knows less than he thinks, and one should speak less than he thinks which is more than he knows.”

“Do you doubt me? ‘Yes.’ Good. That proves you are not half as dim-witted as you look.”

"I must do so, if no-one else is willing to end this plague of evil."

“That I am doing my duty. Like all of us.”

"I will ensure I do all I can to protect you.”

“I can prove my strength, if needs be, but I am perfectly capable of surviving in the wild.”

“I will do what I will, to prove my worth if needs be.”

“There is no honour in battle, only survival.”

“For I know what you’re capable of. I shall wish to have another battle in the future, if fate allows it.”

Chronicles:

Dyghus, the Great Strength - This chronicle is aimed to tell the early years of Nenusidh's life within Angmar and will tell how Dyghus was born, and how Angmar has changed and affected him to become the man he is, for he spent nearly fifty or sixty years of life (on and off) in Angmar, thus the chronicle will note why and how he came to come there in the first place. This is written in 3rd person, by a Narrator, and a chapter will be released every Monday, starting from Monday 4th January 2016.
