--In-progress bio*: Carlyndra Khuzdarùyad◊, also known as Carly, was found abandoned as a babe by a small family of dwarves.  Taking pity on her, they took her in despite her being from the race of Men, a fact her surrogate family didn't hide from her. She was otherwise raised as a dwarf in terms of culture and education.  Because of this, she knows how to speak Khuzdul, the language of the dwarves. Her dwarven family consists of herself, her mother (Sissal), her father (Hlein), her brother Nulgraf and two other brothers..

About 4-5 years ago, Carly woke up one day bloody and in the middle of nowhere.  She had been separated from her family during a raid and left for dead while her village burned.  After that she lived in the woods, only recently "finding" her way back to civilization by way of being captured and put into a jail cell. There she stayed until a Man called Strider came and rescued her from her cage.

She was graciously taken in by the Gondorian Kinship Guard of Minas Tirith.

After a few months with them, she decided that she wasn't cut out for the military life, and instead formed her own kin with those that she considered her new family.

This family, although makeshift, is now her third one, and she will protect it even if it kills her. She can't stand to see another one fall apart, and she is willing to risk her own life to make sure that never happens.

Carly was attacked by a very drunk Deordal in the Prancing Pony. Deordal bashed Carly's skull into the floor several times, leaving her with some brain damage. This damage affected the part of her brain that controlled speech, and she was left unable to speak Westron. Curiously, she was able to still understand it, but her mouth could not form the words. Instead she communicated through Khuzdul, Iglishmek (dwarvish sign laungage), and trying to gesture her meaning.

Since no one else could really understand her, Anelore took her took Rivendell where he left her for about a month so that she could be taught by the elves how to speak Sindarin. While with the elves she earned herself the name "Melui," meaning sweet, because of her caring and thoughtful nature.

Anelore, who also speaks Sindarin, became her translator until she was finally healed months later by Feridae.

As of early [March 2014], Carlyndra has left for Erebor in search of her adoptive family. She had recently learned that they are still alive from a dwarf Dvolinn who lives in their settlement. She returned [April 22, 2014].

--Personality: She is awkward and shy.  She blushes easily, more so when talking to members of the opposite gender, a trait that she hates about herself. Formerly rough and cynical, upon becoming friends with Anelore she has changed into a happier, more caring person. She is sometimes referred to as the "den-mother" of her little makeshift family. This family has come to be known as the Haven of Hope.

Because of her Dwarven upbringing, she also has taken on characteristics that are more associated with dwarves, such as being stubborn, secretive, fiercely loyal to her friends, offended easily by rude comments, and having the ability to hold a grudge like no other.
