Teremonth was sleeping quietly next to her. Reiven watched him breathing steadily yet she couldn’t dare to fall asleep. It was her watch to wait for him, to hold his hand, to whisper gentle words in his ear for chasing off his nightmares. Two nights he told her, for two nights he couldn’t sleep. His face was so pale and eyes looked restless he didn’t need to say a word that Reiven didn’t know.
Teremonth wriggled restlessly in his sleep as his heavy eyelids thrilled.
“Sshh..” whispered Reiven holding his hand gently “I am here… with you..”
Her voice lost in his nightmare…
Teremonth cried in pain…
Suffering like burning alive…
“Please.. wake up!! Teremonth…” Reiven tried to wake him up in vain.
“This is your fault.. “ spoke the lordless voice “Your fault…”
Reiven shook her head “No… You’re not going to fool me anymore. I did nothing..”
“Nothing…?” whispering sounded amused “Nothing you say…”
She elf stood up like she can face the owner of the whisperings, looking into the dark corners of her bedchamber.
“Show yourself… I had enough of you…”
“I gave my life just to save you…” Daelith stepped out of the darkness. He wasn’t wearing the goat mask nor carrying the scars anymore.
“No..” said Reiven “You gave your life to undone your mistakes… to bring an end to that evil “
The vision thrilled before pointing at Teremonth “What about him then? Will you let him suffer to save you or does he deserve such pain too?”
Reiven shook her head “No… “ her voice fell into silence “Please leave him alone…”
“Why?” lordless voice laughed in her ear as Daelith remains silent “for what?”
“I did what you asked me.. I found you and I promised to take you with me.. to the west… one day..”
“All I see is the darkness of earth… You lied…”
“No..” said Reiven “We are just trying to keep you safe…”
“Liar..” voice sounded tasteless “you’re just keeping yourself safe…”
She elf remained silent, helplessly agreeing its argument.
“Besides…” voice whirled around her “He will carry me better…”
Reiven hold her looks up to meet Daeliths’ to find an answer but there was only questions.. “Will you let him suffer… Will you let him die… to save you? ”
She elf steeled herself holding her chin up in a silent response.
“Why?” asked the voice again “For what?”
Reiven smiled bitterly as a little dagger shined in her hand and moved swiftly leaving a clean cut in her palm “Cause it’s my tainted blood you want…”
