Divided into passages known as 'branches', 'The Burl of Hárvang' (Harntawar-en-Hárvang in Sindarin) is a story, shared through oral tradition by the Woodmen that once called the village of Hárvang home. The story shares many elements with many other stories among the Woodmen: the untiring struggle against the shadow creeping over Mirkwood and beyond, and the Free People's ability to persist and survive in spite of it.
