| Outward Appearance | A strong young woman stands before you, past 20 years of age but not too many years beyond that. Keen green-grey eyes take in the scene, observant and watchful. Her dark hair is braided neatly at the back of her head and she stands straight with a quiet air of confidence and determination.
Her movements appear graceful despite the chain mail she wears. A knowing eye might perceive that she has had some sort of martial training and the two swords nearly always at her side seem to confirm this.
Often seen carrying a small pack or with simple cloak on her back, her clothing looks to be well-made but a bit worn from travel,
Her manner seems to be generally calm and friendly though perhaps somewhat reserved in unknown company. But when trust has been found, she laughs easily and genuinely, and seems happy to meet those who have new tales to tell.

Background
Adirel was born in Morlad, a small town in Western Gondor tucked into the foot of the White Mountains. Due to an illness that took the lives of her parents, at a very young age she was bundled up and sent to the seaside city of Dol Amroth to live with her Uncle Beriaudur, head of the city guard. He was kind to her though somewhat distant, preoccupied with his responsibilities and leaving her largely to her own devices.
She grew up exploring the nooks and crannies within the walls of the city, but took a special liking to the armory (where her uncle spent most of his time) and the library. Hence, she would alternately play with the swords (when her uncle wasn't looking) or bury herself in the corner with a tome of Gondorian history, longing to learn the tales of the wider world. She would also often find a way up the walls to look out at the sea or the distant mountains and lands to the north and east. Her uncle continued to be kind to her throughout the years, and her innate knack for swordplay and apparent talent for detailed footwork early on eventually convinced him to allow her to first watch but then join in with some of the training drills for the city guards. She would also find vantage points to observe the Swan Knights honing their skills when they weren't on duty, picking up some of their tricks through keen observation.
Though she was just a child when she met several of the guards and soldiers of the city, her constant presence, cheerfulness, and rabid interest in what they were doing made some of the them take an immediate liking to her. Almost as soon as she could wield a training sword on her own a few began to playfully spar with her, teaching her directly through experience. As a result, through her teenage years her martial skills and observation increased rapidly and when she was just past her 20th year she could just about keep up with the best of them.
During her youth, her obsession with swords also led Adirel to befriend many of the forge-workers who made the blades for the armory, as she would sit and watch them for hours at a time. They wound up teaching her the basics of identifying useable ore, smelting, and forging. Occasionally, they would quietly speak of those somewhat mysterious and master races of craftsmen, the Dwarves and the Elves, usually with a mixture of awe and slight fear of their storied abilities.
So while she was generally content with her bustling, fairly routine life in and around Dol Amroth, her reading of old tales continued to fuel a growing desire to explore beyond the city walls. She longed to see the fabled cities and forges of the Elves and Dwarves, explore the ruins of ancient kingdoms, and to learn more of the wider world. Her uncle was coming to realize that she would not be settled until she had some sort of adventure, but unbeknownst to him, she was already making plans to follow a small merchant caravan to the ancient lands of Anor in the north. One of the merchants had befriended her uncle several years prior, and in the years of coming and going they had become fast friends.
Close to the date of her departure, she announced her intention of traveling north. Knowing the unrest brewing to the south, her uncle reluctantly agreed to let her go with the merchants on what he hoped would be a relatively "short" journey. He knew she was of a mature age with a good head on her shoulders and calm judgment, not to mention a fair hand with weaponry and no small amount of martial skill. Though to be honest, he was well aware that she would have most certainly found a way out of the city even if he had not agreed to the journey.
So she began her travels northward and eventually wound up journeying solo. What happened to the merchant caravan? Who knows where her path will lead or what adventures will now arise along the way?
