Freedom of the Wild Things

Freedom.

It is something that all beings crave for.

When a wild beast that has been captive all its life finally earns its own freedom.and control, it will fight to the bitter end to keep that control.

Ropes tie down and bind, chains restrain, keeping the wild beast down. Once free, now caught and ensnared. Surrendering utterly to you.

I was once the master, the apex predator. I once ruled the world and everyone bowed to me and my command. I was the leader of the pack, the king on the mighty throne. The Hunter. I ruled with an iron fist. The hounds of my heart heeded my command. They have been set free now- they ignore their master, baying and howling, chasing frantically after the faint essence.

The complete control I once held, now slips through my fingers like grains of sand. Why do I surrender it so easily to you, little deer? What power do you hold over me to have me in such a state? It takes just once glance, of those doe eyes, for the beast to surrender.

Yet it doesn’t. It fights. It struggles, it wants to break free. The chains and ropes dig harshly into flesh, my lifeblood pouring out.

Give me time, my love, and the beast will calm down, though not be tamed, no. For nothing can tame the wild. My head tossed back to howl, feet running bare through the forest, leaves whipping at my skin and pulling my hair. I will always be a wild man, yet I will always come home to your arms and sweet lover’s embrace. To taste the honey on your lips and feel the warmth of your body. To hear the music of soft sighs and cries rising into the night to be heard only by me.

Take my hand, away into the wild woods of the lover’ snight shall we run, bayong hounds of our hearts at our heels.

Freedom.
It is something we all possess.
