Enjoying several ales and games of dice with Belg in "Ranulfs", conversation turned to old tales and trolls....
"Have you ever seen a troll Belg" asks me. I replied no and shouted over to Ranulf at the bar, who swears he had seen the stone trolls, in the Trollshaws, the ones mentioned in the tales of Thorin and his company.
"Thats nowt but an old tale, Ranulf, the kind we tell after a few to many ales", Belg replied.
"No, no definitely seen them".
"I'll wager you haven't, Ranulf" replied Belg.
My ears began to twitch "wager"
"Wager Belg? What you betting? I asked.
Belg leans across the table. "You prove its true laddie and I will wager a keg of mead"
I thought for a short while. "Make it a keg of ale and your on"
"Your on laddie" we shook hands across the table and continued with our game.
