Returning to Harlond

Maedhrathin is sulking somewhat, and not being especially talkative this morning. A crumbled letter lies on the floor next to him. He has been called back to Lindon by his cousin in Harlond, and is trying to get organized for the trip. Family duties requires him to leave the peaceful valley, though he would rather had stayed longer with Ealendil.

He and Ealendil have gathered his belongings and things that he is bringing back at the small house newly acquired by the Order of the Harp. She is trying to comfort him as she helps him pack. Ealendil is going to send with him notes and books to Niemire, her niece, in Duillond, who is currently taking care of the old family house.

Ealendil is in cheerful mood, the day before had been a splendid one. Last night had seen two new members of Bar-en-Vanimar taking the oath, two new swans, hiril Athuviel and hir Glinthir. And she had had the honor to stand witness for Athuviel when she spoke her oath. The gathering afterwards in the Hall of Fire to celebrate had truly been a gathering of friends, both new and old, Elvealin had been there, and so had Manadhlaer too. Tears of joy come unbidden to her eyes when she thinks of her friends, duties usually keeping them apart.

And prior to the cermony, she had observed the training of members of the Fountain, beneath the leadership of Himwen. It had been a joy to see them train and she was reminded of her own training as a warden of old at Amon Lanc during the reign of Oropher. Though she knew many of the techniques and moves, she followed with growing interest and attention the remarkable teachings of hîr Fealivril, a most knowledgeable ellon.

Earlier in the week Ealendil had chanced to meet with hiril Lothoniel and learn that Loth-i-Lonnath is returning to Lindon in a few days, and she had asked if Maedhrathin could travel with them. He would never had dared to ask it by himself, but would have waited till one of the smaller travelling companies had set out for Lindon and gone with hem. However, Ealendil feels that he will travel in much safer and better company with the Mithdirith, so she helps him to get organized and packed. She will accompany him of course to the meeting place and make introductions, he is much too modest and shy to do that by himself.

Not many words are spoken between them, long standing acquaintance having seen to a deeper wordless understanding between them, and they work together in harmony and quietness as the bags are prepared.
