Tîn Gilith - The White Stag ( Part 2 )

Fear and adrenaline rushed through Gilith's body .Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath and focused. Now she could hear the slight breeze blowing in the leaves and shouts in the distance.Gilith opened her eyes and gave a quick whistle. This was the signals the guards were waiting for. The elves leapt off the flet. With grace, Gilith jumped from platform to bough. Traveling above the branches was much faster than running on the forest floor. The elves picked up speed and soon arrived at the source of the chaos. A band of orcs, in dark broken armor were chasing after a white female deer. They run and stumbled noisily through the forest bushes with weapon raised.

Gilith's nose picked up the strong stench of the orcs. She gave orders with silent arm motions and the elven guards spread out amongst the branches. Each elf moved with such grace and made no sound, the orcs were completely unaware of their presence. Gilith took her position and drew what would be the first of many arrows. The elves stood in the shadow of the leaves and waited for her to give the order.

The orc in the front came to a sudden stop, causing the orc behind him to come crashing on his back. Cursing, the apparent leader turned and glared at his companions. He growled something in Black Speech, his voice was rough.

Gilith lowered her arm swiftly and elven arrows began to rain down on the orcs. Their screeches and wails had no effect ont he elves. With countless years of training and experience the elven archers loaded and fired their arrows faster than the orcs could run. The orcs crashed into one another and a few blindly fired arrows into the air failing miserably to find a target. Within minutes the screams of the orcs came to an end, and there was nothing but a pile of body lying on the forest floor. One by one the elves jumped down, landing softly and quietly below.

Gilith landed next to an orc. Curling her lips in disgust, she reached down and pulled two of her arrows from the creature's back. The arrow tips came out covered in thick dark orc blood. She walked to the nearby stream, dipping the arrows in the cold water, then placing them back in her  quiver, when suddenly, on the other side of the water she noticed the white deer standing there with a small fawn by its site. Gilith kept her gaze onto the animal, then gently nodded her head with a smile, as mother and fawn vanished silently into the forest.
