Tîn Gilith - The Galadhrim Guard

While the Galadhrim are not known to be overtly militaristic in nature, they do have a militia that has been established to protect the woods from Orc and other enemy invasion. The Guards of Lothlórien are known as the Galadhrim Guard. Under the Lord and Lady there are three regiments stationed in Lothlórien. Gilith had joined the Order of Lórien in the lowest rank regiment known as the Regiment of the Gate. After ten years of service she was promoted and transferred to the Regiment of the Mallorn Trees where she served with distinction, taking part is several  skirmishes at the end of The Watchful Peace

Wounded in battle, Gilith was awarded the Order of Lórien medal of honor and promoted to the Regiment of Starlight with the rank of Commander Protector. This is the highest Order, for they are as Starlight, ever watching over the Lord and Lady, bringing the light of Elbereth into darkness. Champions of Arms these guards be more than warriors, as they act as the representatives and ambassadors of Caras Galadhon to other lands when needed, though still charged to defend Lórien. Gilith's military career was the pride and joy of her father.

Though centuries had passed since Gilith's mother had left Lothlórien, Gilindir had never truly recovered and weariness and grief had made him weak in body and spirit. By this time he would rarely leave his talan, spending long hours in the garden, reading, thinking, regretting. Occasionally he would talk to Gilith about how much he missed the smell and sound of the sea, and about Valinor. In her heart Gilith knew her father was almost ready to depart Middle-earth. Many centuries earlier, when her father was crying at night, she could not help relieve his sorrow - now, as her father was getting ready for his last journey to the West, she was unable to stop him, and for the first time in her life she felt completely alone.
