The Great East Road II
We awoke at dawn, setting off early to avoid losing daylight. Bree was quieter than I am used to. There was a soothing calmness to the air.
Upon exiting the Inn, we were stopped by one of the Hunters who accompanied us in the expedition to the Barrow Downs. He informed us of another journey which is to take place in several weeks time. He told of an old city called Fornost to the north. He promised a large reward. We have heard rumours of orc activity in that region, and that there is much danger. We will have to be on our toes if we are to set foot there. The expedition takes place in a few weeks time.
After the discussion, Kirseth and myself left Bree, setting down the familiar road back to Hookworth. As much as we wished to return 'home', we agreed to pass the village and make as much distance as possible.
The journey was long, but relatively simple. Kirseth stopped a few times to hunt for some local boar. As sunlight faded, we made camp. We had been traveling for roughly fifteen hours. I set up the bedrolls as Kirseth cooked some of the freshly hunted meat.
We slept in shifts, sharing the burden of being the look out. There was a foul wind blowing from the marshes...my mind began to think of all the places I will need to search if I am to find that brooch, and how I will also need to find companions to join me in the endeavor. The next morning we continued our journey; packing up our supplies, we headed Eastward.
The further East we were, the more sparse the land became. There were less animals and the flora and fauna seemed less green. We were fortunate to have packed so many rations and found meat the previous day.
As daylight was waning, we found a large hilltop to camp upon, serving as a great lookout site.
The night air is calm and cold. To the far East I can make out the shape of a large structure, towering above what looks like the flicker of flames. The flames fill me with unease, though I am unsure whether there is meaning behind it.
The flames seem to have disappeared now. I will wake Kirseth for look out duty and try to sleep.
