Tales of the Mute - Away - Letter 1

Dear Aren,

Ealbrand and I have just arrived in Forlaw. We're staying with our aunt for a while, she thinks we look too malnourished, before we travel onward to Cliving. It won't be a very far or dangerous journey, so don't worry, the biggest part is already over.

I hope you are doing well. There's no telling how long this letter will take to reach you, or if it'll even make it, but I do hope you'll receive it soon. I am sorry I had to leave before I met your uncle as you had wished, but Ealbrand was desperate to get me back home. While I miss you and my home in Bree, a sense of relief and calm has washed over me since we set foot in the familiar lands, which I think I greatly need right now.

I am worried, for Wildermore is changed. It's so cold, everything is covered in ice and snow, and it's worse than any winter my aunt has ever seen. There was talk of a large ice giant but, well.. I try not to believe such things until I see them, but I fear the stories may have some truth in them. I will just be happy when we finally reach Cliving.

Give everyone my best wishes and yes, even your dreadful cousin. I miss you, and I'll return shortly.

Love, Tosie.
