Daigan's book, entry '4'

''We were ambushed in the middle of the afternoon... The orcs appeared from nowhere, and shortly after one of my guardians fell. He didn't make a kick, not a sound. It was like he didn't mind to die. Like he was ready for it. I wasn't wounded.. I fought, but I wasn't wounded.. They kept me from getting wounded.. I insisted we would bury him. He deserved atleast that. I got to see his face. Funny, I pictured him in my head to be older, but he wasn't. He was just a boy, not a day older than nineteen summers. Why would they send a kid along with us? Was this boy so skilled? Of course he was, he showed that numerous of times. I wonder if this was just a random ambush, orcs laying in wait for some weary traveller. But somehow, in the back of my mind, I am doubting my own words. What if they are looking for us? I'm not that important. After all, I am just a piece in a larger game. I know that, and I don't mind living like that. Are they trying to keep me from going to Bree? What is going on there? It's just some remote town, like anything ever happens there. Still, they send me. Wow, I'm getting a bit full of myself. Ah well, atleast someone notices it, even if it's just me. I'll have to stop writing now, they told me they are going to show me something. I'm curious to what it is, but reluctant to go there all the same.''
