Kylli is from the forested mountains of southern Forochel, born in the village of Kauppa Kohta on Korkea Jorvi, the High Lake. Situated at the foot of the mountains, it is the largest fresh and unfrozen body of water in the northern territory. She learned to hunt and fish, weave and forage, just as every member of the Lumi-vaki. Her parents were hunters for the tribe and she followed in their footsteps. 

She is trained to use both long bow and crossbow, preferring the latter in the dense forests surrounding her home land. Kylli is not often seen without her spear and a long hunting knife on her belt. At home in the snowy forests around the large lake, she hunts wolves and moose with her bow for fur and meat. She sets traps for the nasty little wolverines who have a desired resource, their fur is frost proof and the people use it to line their hoods. These hides are valuable trade items and she often travels to northern villages to barter for ivory of mammoths, scales of worms, and the white fur of the ice bears. 

It is on one long trek to the main village of the Lumi-Vaki, far to the north on the shores of the ice bay of Forochel called Suri-Kyla. Here she would trade the wolverine hides and moose meat as well as pass on a message from her chief to the council. As she nears the large village Kylli is caught in a sudden blizzard and loses the road. She wanders for a few days until righting her course but is suffering now from dehydration and exhaustion, there is no wood and her supply on her sledge has run out. Her determination and endurance is pushed to the limit until she finally comes across an elk herdsman who helps her back to the large village. 

Freezing, tired and in need of a healer, Kylli trudges with her sledge of trade goods towards the largest hut.
