Captain's Quick Report: Summer Tales In The Shire

Of dancing and music, food and fishing, there are few other things for Hobbits to not be known well for which could be assumed of their Shire lifestyle and (mostly) peaceful culture.  Except when it comes to biscuits.  And pies.  So I'm told, hoho!

Yet this morning, the gathering which departed ways with the blessing of Nannie, a grey-haired but ever practical, yet wise, grandmother-like figure to her halfling-kin, demonstrated another outstanding example of something else the Hobbits of the Shire are to be considered highly of -- for if Elves and Dwarves are known to be great tellers of stories and the passing of knowledge and lessons through faerie tales and ancient myths, then Hobbits are no amateurs in such similar arts.  And while Bree and the race of Man surely has it's own talented story-weavers amongst our kind -- I have yet to see even the touch of spirit which Hobbits seem to infuse into their tales so naturally, and commonplace.

By all accounts it was a most enchanting, and both mournful at times, of nights to spend within the Shire, by the Party Tree north of Hobbiton, also called 'The Hill' by most locals within the Shire-bounds.   Story after story was shared, some silly, others saddening and heroic, and a few were even both!  Why, there was even a tale shared which gave the folk of Staddle a claim to fame -- something to do with Staddlewiches!  Or... sandwiches?  Master Silon should have been here... he would have been able to affirm this story, or perhaps be pleased at the least to hear of such of his hometown!

With leave, Master Reader, I end this early report to the Archives and shall get to work organizing the sketches and colorings from different moments throughout the night, that caught my attention as worthwhile ones to record.  And many there were -- for once again Hobbits are able to tell stories that keep your heart and mind engaged with great imagination; to the words being spoken, and of the tales of old, of the silly and of the wise, being shared for all with a keen ear, to hear.

Signed,

Officer of the Sworn Wanderers

P.S.
With such a good morning dawning after such an outstanding night of stories, I must rest well for the journey back to Bree-land.  For on the Second day of this Month, tomorrow in fact, is the grand opening of an establishment called the 'Golden Goat', a tavern newly-built in the settlement of Uxcrest, which I have learned now is owned by a 'Eordion'.  And with a performance by an upcoming troupe I have yet but recently heard of, the 'Nomads Miraculous', I hope with swift winds and luck that my travels might arrive in time to attend this event!  The rumours of 'Sophie's Catering Company' providing the grand opening refreshments and food also interests me.

Beyond that, it's coming closer to the day that both the festivities to celebrate the summer season across Middle-earth will soon come to closure on the Fifth day of this Month, but also the same day in which the 'Maidens of Vanimor' will also be returning to our parts of the land to play their enchanting music at that venue just south of Celondim's docks.  There is much to do!

Overview Collection

(( Disclaimer: Hello folks, I'd like to caution you that taking a look at the embedded slideshows coming up below will likely not go too well if your in a hurry, and hoping to just get a 'general gander' at what the event was like.  The 'Overview Collection' above is more suited for that!

Viewing the albums embedded below is more geared for those folks looking to get a /slightly/ more play-by-play spirit of how things unfolded.  In fact, I only recommend having a browse through if for some reason, you have an urge to well... just look at a lot and lot of screenshots -- many of the shot angles/perspectives being repeated in other screenshots but at different times during the event, etc!  Thanks for reading.

Extra Note: Not every word and every line from the stories/words spoken from each story-teller are shown in the screenshots below!  I tried hard to capture as many as I could, but there was inevitably a few lines here and there that passed me by -- drats!  For the most part however, I think about 70% of each story-teller's tale is shown in the screenshots, so you should get a decent gist of it all!  Use it as an incentive to come out next time and experience the entire thing! ))
