Second Letter to Miss Celnessyn

*This letter is written with black ink on a not so good quality parchment which has few ale and candle wax stains on it, and it is addressed to Miss Celnessyn in Tegwent.*

Dear Celnessyn,

I hope you are well and things peaceful in Bree.

Rest of my journey went well. The weather was on my side and there were just few minor setbacks. I have reached my destination and my old home town. How strange it has been! It all looked the same, but yet everything was so different. I always thought that I would be happy to return home, that it would be joyful, but it is just sad. It does not feel like I have returned home, instead it feels like I went for a visit to a town where I have not been before. I hope things will change as I stay longer here.

My mother was fine, not unwell as she stated. She has been living comfortably at her friends’ house since my father died. She has not been ill, nor suffered from hunger or been homeless. I believe it all was a trick to fool me to come back home. And what I fool I was to return here! Nevertheless, I wished for answers to the questions I have had all my life (you know, the ones I keep blabbering about) and so far my mother has refused to answer to those. We shall see how long it will take for her to start being honest with me.

I did not wish to burden the friends’ of my mothers or wait to see how long their hospitality will last, thus I went to the local tavern and asked for work. For my luck the tavern keeper was in need of a barmaid (the previous one had gotten recently married) and gladly hired me. He is not as nice as master Butterbur, but this will do. I live in a small servant’s room, just like Miss Ellae. Except I share my room with Scrappy. And bed as well, as he seems to ignore my word and as I return from work to my room in the evening, I find him sleeping in my bed! At least I do not feel cold while sleeping, but I smell like a dog. Luckily the smell keeps away all the possible suitors!

I should return to work soon. I shall add the details of my current address to this letter. Should you have the time, I would love to hear from you!

With love,

Viljawyn

Ps. I try to save some coins and send them to you as soon as I am able!
