Entry Seventeen: An Arrow in the Dark

Entry Seventeen: An Arrow in the Dark

One watched… One waited…

Taking it upon himself, to investigate that of these prisoners the Blackwold Brigands had taken. One was intrigued even more so, in the finding of a sigil belonging to the Bloody Dawn. One began his search in the heart of Chetwood, seeking the information of an exact location. Small camps are spread far and few between, but no Blackwold who would hold much useful information. Mere Foot soldiers to their cause.

It would need to be someone within their headquarters, amongst the ruins. But by chance, as one was about to make his move he saw two familiar faces. Members of the Dawn, Brammy and Taala. Brammy, the man who was kidnapped by Goblins within the Misty Mountains which lead to the terrible encounter with that of a Giant. Taala, the daughter of the late Hardoleth, described by some as reckless. Both capable sellswords, from what one’s eyes had seen in the past. But to what end where this pairing doing so close to the Blackwolds?

It would seem they too would seek information, Taala has never been known for her subtlety.  Her voice not as quiet as she hoped, that all could not here. Yet quiet enough to strategize a plan. One watched as Taala walked into the middle of the road, unbuttoning her blouse to reveal her bosom as distraction. A Brigand would approach on patrol, falling for such bait as she attempted to lure him off the road. The Brigand would grow aggressive, but if one was to strike so soon , his presence would be compromised.

Brammy would finally strike the Brigand from behind, knocking him unconscious.  They loaded the Brigand onto the back of a horse, riding off with him. One trailed the pair, following them to an abandoned shack on the outskirts of Combe. One knew what he was going to walk in on… A torture. Methods of torture, tends to be the work of those that are evil. But knowing the Dawn well, these methods seem to be a custom.

One did not agree with such an action, not the way it was performed. Taala showed that she was truly the daughter of Hardoleth, cutting off the Brigand’s fingers and shoving them into his mouth. One stood silent, listening to the line of questioning. They asked for the name of a woman. It seems they knew the location but to whom was held they did not. Taala let slip that it was someone held within Jagger Jack’s Camp. One learned all he needed, but not before this attempted torture went astray. The Brigand would prompt an attack, in attempt to flee without answering question. Knocking both Brammy and Taala back, one would intervene sending an arrow deep within the Brigand’s heart.

One did not set out to kill anyone this night, nor allow anyone to learn he had resurfaced near Bree. Without a word, one would leave with haste. Heading outside and straight to Illith. One knew, Taala would attempt chase, firing a few arrows as one rode off. Her aim would fail her where it has not in the past. One would ride to his dwelling, hidden within the lands of Bree. But now it will be known, to a select few that the Grey Warden had returned.

One knows where he must head next… Endangering his own being or not…
