Branston's Journal - Blince Kolten

in

I suppose you had your first visitor today, and a very special one at that, for Blince Kolten paid you a visit.  Blince is not only my dear friend, but he is my mentor, not only in swordsmanship, but in life as such. I do not wield a sword much these days, but still have need of a comforting arm and a guiding hand.

Blince will be an important person in your life, he has counseled me well, even though I am often too foolish at times to heed his good advice.  He told me to have nothing to do with your Father, but if I had done that I would not be holding you now my dear boy as I write this journal for you.

Blince has made me a promise to look after you as if you were his own son if anything should happen to me and your Father turns from you.  Blince was a soldier, a rider of the Riddermark, Eorlingas blood flows in his veins as it does yours and mine.  He is a good man, a devoted Father to his own children, I trust him, despite the things he tells me he has done.  I judge him for the man he is now, and with something as precious as you, my trust is not given without great thought.
