Daigan's book, entry '49'

''I have finally arrived in Waymeet, it took me quite some time to travel here, though it was worth the time. There are several signs of 'long-shanks' having stayed here, that's how the little people call us, long-shanks. I was unsure with what manner they would greet me, but the Bounder seemed quite polite. I asked him if he had any clue to the whereabouts of the long-shank's party that stayed here in Waymeet. I told him there were about seven of them. The Bounder told me he overheard them say ''Needlehole'', which could refer to the town to the north, north-west. The Bounder showed me a map of the area, pointing out the way they were headed. I thanked the Bounder and got back in my saddle, though he had a final warning for me about the marshes I would have to cross, they were quite dangerous for unaware travellers. I told him I was very well capable of defending myself, but I did thank him for the warning, and on my way I was. I had found them. In the marshes mentioned earlier I had found the entire group of travellers. Apparently they were trying to cross a bridge, though by the looks of Bearn, he was quite frightened to do so. There were indeed seven of them in total. Oh right, I almost forgot to mention, Bearn crossing bridges is not a particular safe decision. As for the bridge, there ain't a single hobbit using that for quite some time. I joined them for half a day and the night. I had little time to talk to Bearn, as he was occupied with several other things. The talk we eventually had was brief, though reassuring of his wellness. Bearn had told me the reason he had left was to accompany two family members to the grave of their sister. Bearn had me promise I would send his love to several people. Though the meeting was brief, it was intriguing and I was glad I could see Bearn in such a good shape. He looked happy, which somehow settled my own worries, I knew Bearn was going to be alright, he always seems to end up like that. I've promised Bearn I would come to his aid whenever he needs it. I'm still unsure why I ever promised to help him in the past, but it seemed right, like he needed it, or atleast the guarantee there were others willing to help also. Now to find out if Cendryth can finish the contract I gave him, that is if he's going to react normal this time. I will go to sleep now, it will be a while until I reach Bree..''
