A bit about how I intend to play Merala and document her adventures.
Merala will be an immersive RP character, with the following rules:
- I'll mostly walk in towns, and run in the wilds. However this can change depending on the circumstances. You may catch me strolling down the road, or running though Bree on an urgent errand.
- Once I have a mount, I'll ride it between towns, then stable it somewhere in town. I need to remember where it is, because I'll have to go back to the stable, to mount it again. While riding I will walk over rough terrain, and almost always walk in towns.
- I'll aways (exception, some fellowships, see next rule) be in character. You will often see me talking to npc's as I do the quests, or just saying 'hi' to them. Because I'm always RP'ing in the world, it will be hard for me to RP in another imagined location in any chat. If I join a kin that does this, I probably won't say much other than ((ooc)) stuff in kin chat.
- If I join a fellowship for a dungeon or raid, I understand that RP will need to take a back seat to good play (part of the whole trying to avoid deaths thing). This will be the only time I'll get on a headset. Other fellowships, in the world will be IC.
- No suicides or even jumping down cliffs that will result in a break ( possible exception, running away from horrible encounters, where a reckless leap down a cliff might be very in character).
- Hardcore (perma-death) up to level 20. In general, Merala will try to avoid any deaths, like any 'real' person.
- No quick travel, unless no option, no milestones. If I use a stable's horse, then my horse is left behind, and I am without a mount until I retrieve it. If going to a dungeon instance, she will first travel to the physical location.
- I'll be using the pocket item to stop experience, so quests remain mostly dark blue.
- Merala will dress appropriate to the current task, e.g, no full armor in the crafting hall.
- For the most part, her armor and weapons will be from quest drops. An occasional exception for a few pieces if there is an IC exchange.
- Skirmishes and the new HD content are a problem. Some Skirmishes are necessary to level the soldier along with the character. I will view Skirmishes (and HD content if I do so) as dreams or stories she makes up. She will be shocked if and when her skirmish locations are discovered in the real world, revealing her dreams/stories as portents.
Now as to her adventures. I may have a few original stories/poems, but not many as I am not any good at that. I'll also not bore you with telling the same story everyone else has, so I'll try something a bit different. Merala's story will be told by titles and gossip.
You may have noticed that npc characters sometimes gossip about your recent activities, well they also tell other players about you. They do! I choose to represent this gossip by your title. No, I don't see a big title over your head, but the npc's may be talking about player spending lots of time in the marsh killing slugs, a Slug-squasher.
So I will tell Merala's story by the title she gets each day (in game I will be displaying the previous day's title), and a few bits of gossip. Hopefully, I can make some of them interesting or even humorous.
