The Meeting With The Lord

Among the documents that the scribe writes when one seeks an audience with Lord Dwalin is where you will find this.

Here enters Dulmi, son of Galmi. Seeking the audience of one Lord Dwalin son of Fundin of Thorin's Halls.

The Lord accepts the Dwarf and Dulmi son of Galmi kneels before the steps of his throne, his beard mopping the floor. A moment of silence follows before the Lord speaks.

'Greetings, Dulmi son of Galmi. My aid you seek in these times, do you?'

The court around the throne observe the Dwarf, who still remains on his knees. He raises his head to the throne and speaks in a noble yet almost desparate tone.

'Aye, Lord Dwalin. For a year ago I came to you in the harshest of winters to seek refuge here in a place I once called home, ere I was hunted' Spoke the Dwarf. The court acknowledge that he had indeed come here a year prior seeking the protection of the Lord.

'Yes.' Says Dwalin, before going on. 'The clans of Erebor wished you dead, for a crime was committed by one of your own.'

Dulmi son of Galmi lowers his head once more before speaking. 'No longer do I call him my kin. A traitor and a thief, is he'.

'That is what they call you now, is it not, Dulmi son of Galmi?' The Lord speaks, the surrounding court agree with this point.

'Yes, my lord. Yet do you not know it to be untrue? For my family has served this hall and the next for three generations now!' The Dwarf's voiced crackles, rattled was he.

'Do not upset yourself by my words, Copperfist. Nor think to use the past as a shield against present sins'. Mumblings within the court follow before Dulmi son of Galmi  speaks again.

'Neither of these do I do knowingly, lord. Though explained these accusations before, have I. A crime committed within the Iron Hills should not fall upon another in a further land, should it not?'. The Dwarf was now on his feet.

'Then why have you come before me hither, then? If all has been explained, yet nothing has yet come of your innocence.' Asks Dwalin, to both the court and Dulmi son of Galmi .
'For now I seek help, not refuge. Influence over the crowns of Durin you have, so I ask you to present my case to King Dain of Erebor, by letter or by tongue.' The court awaits the lord's response to this request.

'And what do I, I wonder, gain from such a request?'

Dulmi son of Galmi his head. 'A lord of our folk, I thought of you, Dwalin son of Fundin. Not a lord of profit.' The court whispers in shock to this.

But Dwalin was not shocked. 'You are right, Master Dulmi. For you and your family have served the folk of Durin for thrice generations. The King Under The Mountain shall not soon forget this, nor will he forget your service in the Battle of the Fives Armies. My ambassador I shall send your request, for he leaves ere tomorrow noon.' The Lord stands and bows to Dulmi son of Galmi, and the gesture is returned. 'Go now, friend. For I shall find you in these lands when I have returned word.'

Dulmi son of Galmi  leaves the throne hall. Content with this appointment.
