His Father's Fate
A Ranger's Childhood
All this time, the rangers Arthaniel grew up with had kept the truth from him, about who his parents were and where he came from. But when he turned 18, they finally told him. Arthaniel learned about the Hawthorn family, his father Arthumir and why he had given him away to the rangers. After hearing all that the rangers knew of his origins, Arthaniel had a lot to think about. A few days later he had made his decision, he would travel to Bree, find his family, and try to get to know more about them, and maybe even become a part of their House after all.
Welcome to Bree-Town
After a long, tiring journey with a few dangerous encounters, Arthaniel had arrived in the town of Bree. The first few days he remained in the Prancing Pony, overhearing patrons, trying to locate or speak to any members of the Hawthorn family. It was there, at the Pony, where he had met his first family member; Tylan Hawthorn, his cousin. They only had a short conversation, but Arthaniel was glad he met at least one fellow Hawthorn. A couple of days afterwards, he found out about the Hawthorn's estate in Haynbury, the so-called Auburn Halls. He then went to Haynbury, knocked on the door, and found what he came to find.
Meeting the Family
He was granted entry into the halls. Inside, he saw Tylan for the second time, and met a few other family members for the first time; his uncle Emdar, his aunt Anrianne, and his cousins Lucren and Annastaysia. After a short discussion, the family had decided that, eventhough his father had made some drastic mistakes, Arthaniel was not to blame for that, and still a part of the family and therefore was welcome in the halls.
He was shown a place to sleep, and then watched some sparring duels in the Hall's garden. It had been a great day for Arthaniel already, finally meeting his family, but after those sparring duels he had met another person, a girl, Athrenas. Arthaniel spent the rest of the day with her, getting to know her a bit better. He realised that he quite liked this girl, and a short time after that he believed he was falling in love with her.
Now, having met his family and fallen in love, he decided to stay in Bree instead of returning to Esteldín.
The Covenant of Steel
Arthaniel did not feel at home as a 'noble' in House Hawthorn. He felt like his place was out there in the wilds, as he's lived ever before he found his family. And so, when his cousins Tylan and Lucren left the House, accompanied by Brenorn Greymane, Arthaniel decided to follow their example and leave the House as well. Now, they've all started a mercenary company together. "The Covenant of Steel".

Our family is like the branches of a tree. We may grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one. Each of us will always be a part of the other.
