Background

Bethrelfin had a quiet and good childhood, although she was quite lonely. She was far more curious than her fellow peers, and always preferred to adventure and explore the forests of Mirkwood rather than staying inside. Her mother had to keep her inside more times than she could count, constantly warning her that there were creatures outside of the Elven King’s Halls that would not hesitate to kill her. Her parents were very protective of her, since she was an only child. However, they quickly realized that keeping her leashed would destroy the light and curiosity in her eyes, and therefore allowed her to roam, always with constant supervision. Her father also started teaching her how to use a bow, a past time she adored. As she grew older, she continued to stray away from her peers, preferring to be alone with her head in books hidden out of view in the library or exploring the forest. On her 100th birthday, she begged her mother for something that would bring light to her life. Her parents managed to buy her a little calico cat, who she quickly named Dumpling. She loved her, and Dumpling loved her back, constantly sticking by her side wherever she went. On her 101st birthday, she went up to her parents and asked if she could leave and travel east. She wanted to explore, to get away from the suffocating darkness of Mirkwood and experience the light of Middle Earth. Her parents were hesitant at first, but quickly agreed upon seeing how excited she was to travel. They packed her with endless amounts of food, and her father gave her his trusty elk. Armed with her bow, little Dumpling and enough rations to last her for months, she left Mirkwood with a grin and started moving east. She decided her first stop would be Rivendell, a place she only read about in her books. From there, she’d let the road lead her onwards.
