History

The Beorning known as Valdis is assumed to be a descendant of one of Beorn's many lost kin, scattered and hunted by the Orcs of the Misty Mountains. In truth, however, her origins--much like her age, her parents' identities, and her birth name--are a mystery most likely lost to time.

Prior to five years ago, she was simply one of the many bears roaming the mountains, concerned with nothing more complicated than terrorizing any unfortunate traveler who crossed her path. Had one of those travelers not been Radagast the Brown, she likely would have remained that way. Instead she was brought to the Beorninghús, where she grew from a feral child to a teenager who is still learning how to be human.

Personality

If one looks past her default sullen appearance, the fact that her understanding of "tact" and "charm" comes from Grimbeorn, and the uncomfortable question of whether or not she's eaten people before, Valdis is quite friendly. She's blunt but never purposely rude without provocation, happy to help others, and eager to experience new things. While she's also picked up the Beornings' wariness of strangers, she's confident that turning into a massive bear is an excellent safeguard against those aspiring to take advantage of her naivete and good nature.

However, on top of...well...being a teenager, Valdis has also only had complicated human emotions for five years. Needless to say, she's impulsive, overdramatic, and prone to thinking in absolutes, and has yet to figure out how to deal with any of it beyond some cathartic goblin hunting.
