Background
Linfogel was born during the Great Journey within Teleri brood, during their encampment on the banks of Anduin, not far from the Gladden Fields. And it was there, on the sandy river coast, where he'd seen the light of the stars for the very first time.He was born to the Swan Wing family, as they called themselves - Alphrevail (later Alphroval, singular form, treated more like a name than a nickname), because they particularly loved those birds while living on the shores of Cuivienen. His parents called him Linfo, "The Singer" at the time when Quendi had one language only, for he loved to sing as a child - Linfogel was a later form, given after many years - after the Passing Ceremony, during which he was given his mature name and was embraced as a mature Quendi within the tribe. Linfogel means "The Song of the Star" in old Anduin Avari tongue - the tongue of his tribe. The elders of the group decided to stay here longer, for they fell in love to the River. When Linfogel was a boy, his sister Maamawen was born. Their childhood was happy. They played children games on the banks of the river, went fishing very often without any knowledge of the Dark Powers on the North. Time passed. While Maamawen began to work as a shepard, Linfogel started to feel an urge to do something different. Something was calling his heart to the West, but he was fighting this urge for many years. One day he decided to leave so he anounced to his family he's leaving. It occured Maamawen had been feeling the same thing, she wanted something new, so she agreed to join her brother. They said goodbye to their parents. How could they know they're seeing them for the last time?
They travelled far, through Misty Mountains, Eriador. They crossed Ered Luin not far from Belegost dwarven city, and moved to Ossiriand. They spent some time in Ossiriand among their Nandor brethren, and it was there they learned about the Shadow. Linfogel could not stay there much longer , for the Call of the Sea was deep within his heart. So they decided to go on the shores of the Belegaer. It was a dangerous road. They learned about gaurhoth werewolves more that they ever wanted during that road. Finally they reached Arvernien, and spent many years among birch woods. While Maamawen returned to pastoralism, Linfogel was listening to Ulumuri Horns of Ulmo, and the love of the sea had born in his heart. Not long after he met Cirdan, who agreed to accept Linfogel as an apprentice shipbuilder for one of his shipbuilder masters. It quickly occured Linfogel has no carpenter skills, but he was good at forming metal, so he remained there forging and casting metal parts, nails, weapon components, and when the grim times came, weapons. His weaponsmith knowlege was extending in time and many orcs fell later under slashes and thrusts of Linfogel's swords in the hands of Sindar.
The grim times, and the Beleriand Fall forced Linfogel and Maamawen to flee to the East. They fled to Ossiriand, and from there to Lothlorien. When they arrived there, they began to search for their family. And they learned that the whole Avari village they lived in was razed to the ground by Misty Mountains goblins. In deepest sorrow and hate together, they sworn vengeance. No longer Maamawen was a simple shepard. No longer Linfogel was a mere smith. They often joined raids on goblins, killing dozens of them in the Depths of the Earth.
When Amroth began to rule in Lothlorien, Linfogel became one of the Guards of Lothlorien, and when Amroth moved south, Linfogel accompanied him. After establishing the Edhellond he joined The Guard of The Swan Harbour. But the Ulmo's call was again very strong, so he enlisted to the fleet. He had many voyages and visited many places, including southern lands and Numenor. He met a Numenorean king Tar-Aldarion then, and for the very first time Linfogel felt a great respect for the Race of Men, for Tar-Aldarion was a great sailor, respected by many , including Gil - Galad. In the later centuries he became an officer on "Celebradil" frigate. During the voyage to the southern seas, "Celebradil" was attacked by a pirate vessel. The crew was forced to fight. Many died on that day. "Celebradil" badly damaged had to land on the Harad coast. The sandy beach Linfogel noticed, wasn't a beach. It was a coastal part of a great desert. No trees to rebuild the ship, no supplies. Then helmsman decided: the remaining crew has to try to get home. Oh, it was a long and painful road. Lack of water, found scarcely in seasonal rivers, lack of food, exept for larvae and desert bugs, and a vulture killed with an arrow from time to time. Many died from hunger, exhaustion and dehydration. One of the crew members went mad and run into the desert, and another one killed himself. Finally, six of remaining survivors reached the Umbar outskirts. They waited hidden and regained strength to continue north. And there, on the nothern borderlands of Umbar they were spotted by a corsair patrol. Four "Celebradil" survivors were killed and one badly wounded. Galirion was a name of the wounded sailor, and Linfogel carried him for many miles, just to find out that he died while being carried. Linfogel was in despair, nearly mad. He continued north, without any hope. And in that condition he was found by the Swan Guard skirmishers.
He healed fully physically, but a few mental scars remained, as well as the hate to the Umbar Corsairs did. Feeling the deepest urge to avenge the "Celebradil" crew, he joined the marine infantry. He fought as a ship soldier on many vessels, to be promoted afterwards to marine infantry lieutenant on "Cimir" ("Kementari") frigate, which was sent to Mithlond, loaded with weapons and Edhellond soldiers to help defend Ered Luin against the malice of the Dark One. In Mithlond he found his sister Maamawen, hunting Ered Luin goblins. And it was there Linfogel met his love Nenraen, visiting friends. During a skirmish fight in Ered Luin he also met an Elrond Peredhel's messenger Gamerin and they became friends.
Afterwards he was embraced again by the Galadhrim from Lorien, as their southern kinsman, and there still was few Galadhrim alive, remembering him from Amroth's adventures.
But the Dark Clouds gather over the world. One can hear it in the cry of the gulls. "Cimir" soldiers were sen't back to Mithlond to assist Cirdan, who recognized in Linfogel an old apprentice of the Shipbuilders guild after all those years , but Linfogel fears he and his soldiers will be needed back South very soon...
