Ardirien became a member of the Bree Guard at a fairly young age, having been unofficially adopted by an older member of the Guard after her family went missing, assumed to be dead. He taught her how to defend herself and others, skills which have come incredibly useful on her path. 

She left was sent to northern Breeland three years ago, as a punishment of sorts, and eventually ended up helping the people of Trestlebridge in the North Downs. There in Nan Wathren she met someone she came to consider as a mentor, who helped her to improve as a person. It was not the last time she met him, but it was one of the most significant meetings.

Until she was summoned by him to Rivendell two years later. There she joined a small company of people who were just as determined to help as she was. Her journeys have taken her far from home.

She misses Breeland, and still thinks of her childhood home fondly, but she is always curious to learn something new. Sometimes her curiosity gets her hurt, but others it leads to wonderful discoveries and new knowledge. Although Ardirien often privately doubts her value to her companions, she is loyal to the aims she now feels bound to.
