| Outward Appearance | Einnaar stands just shy of the average height for his people. His face is weathered and creased with age but his hazel green eyes reflect a dwarf with a warm and inquisitive nature. Although his clothing is perpetually stained from a life spent on the road delving into deep, dank places, his appearance is not wholly untidy. Einnaar's tunic and trousers are finely wrought and his white beard meticulously braided in a style that died out long ago before he was even born. His wardrobe like his home reflects his heritage as a Longbeard as well as bits and pieces from the cultures he has interacted with. He is often accompanied by a snowy owl, a nod to his epithet 'Owlseye'. |

Background
Einnaar was born three years after his parents, exiles from the Lonely Mountain, settled in the Blue Mountains of Ered Luin. His father Regnaar was an accomplished tinker but unlike his younger brother who was a chip off the old block and consequently, his father's favorite, Einnaar held only a passing interest in metalwork and gems. His passions instead seem to reside with the legends of old and the artifacts left behind by people long since past. Regnaar and his wife were initially supportive of their son and apprenticed him to a scholar in the Maker's Hall. The preservation of dwarrow history was a noble pursuit after all and of particular concern to Durin's folk after the sack of Erebor but that support soon dwindled when it became clear that Einnaar's fascination with the past went well beyond what was proper for a dwarf.
For Einnaar, it was not enough to record the deeds of antiquity or even replicate the works of the old masters, he wanted to understand the psyche and what caused the ancients to make the decisions that they had made. He never just accepted the scholarly consensus. He went out into the field and interviewed dwarf, men and elf alike. He even went so far as to bribe the sentries to gain access to criminals and imprisoned Blue-crag goblins to better understand their allegiance to evil. This was the final straw for his teacher who had already grown weary of his constant questioning. He delivered Einnaar back to his father and told him on no uncertain terms that the apprenticeship was over.
Regnaar was absolutely furious with his son when he learned what he'd done and was thoroughly determined never to let him out of his sight. He became Einnaar's constant shadow taking him everywhere even on business trips outside of Thorin's halls. On one such trip to Bree, they were accompanied by Einnaar's bombastic uncle Balspori who though well meaning sometimes rubbed people the wrong way. Balspori got into an altercation with a patron at the Prancing Pony one night who was found dead the next morning. The Watch fingered him for the crime but Einnaar knew his uncle was not the culprit. Applying the skills he had garnered under his apprenticeship, Einnaar was able to piece together the victim's final moments and uncover the identity of the real murderer, the man's own wife and her secret lover. He brought his evidence to the authorities, who promptly arrested the pair. An exonerated Balspori gratefully declared that Einnaar had the eyes of an owl and the brains to match. His parents could not have been more proud and though they would never come to fully understand their son's decidedly undwarven tendencies, they never doubted again his heart.
Because no respectable dwarven scholar would take him on for another apprenticeship, Einnaar is largely self taught. He has nevertheless developed a reputation far and wide for his extensive knowledge of history and keen sense of deduction. His clients range from hobbits seeking a simple value estimate on a mathom they inherited from their Gammer to Dunedain aspiring to reclaim the treasures of their forefathers.
