Hargruff came of age close to the Southfarthing, across Sarn Ford and along the southwest edge of The Old Forest. He was born into the Bumblebeard family of beekeepers, who lived carefully on the land in a wagon-home. A band of ruffians recently raided their camp, pillaging the fruits of the bees and leaving the colony shattered and scattered. The desperate scoundrels accomplished in capturing the queen bee along with a fair few of the workers and drones afore departing. Hargruff gave it his all to guard his folk and managed to fend off the theives until they withdrew; finding no benefit in further attempting to defeat the unyieldingly sturdy hobbit. With his father badly wounded and unwilling to continue beekeeping, and his mother terrified and deeply saddened, his parents decided upon settling down in Waymeet for awhile to regain their morale. Hargruff now wanders Middle-Earth admiring and protecting nature, and searching for the ruffians that sullied the hearts of his family, hoping to possibly recover the abducted queen and her kin.
