bumdum born and raised in the white mountains in a small mining and trading colony 

he is a merchant by trade and a great cook

he spends his early ears all to adulthood in that colony working as a merchant same as most of his family

he traded mostly cheese and salted pork with the humans in the area and turned into a well-known merchant in the colony

the colony was surrounded with pockets of orcs who regularly attempted to raid the colony but with no success

one grim night the orcs unleashed a massive attack that  over run the colony

killing most of the colonists and leaving the survivors to flee for their lives and abandoned the colony to the orcs

bumdum and his family along side 4 families of survivors decided to migrate to the blue mountains in hope to start over

on the journey to the blue mountains the caravan who been just him and his family and 4 other families been working for food giving blacksmith services and trading in exchange for shelter and food and some coin for a rainy day

life on the road was not easy for them they had children and old with them  and some died on the journey

when they reached the blue mountains each of the survivor families went to thair own way to start settling down in their new home in the blue mountains

bumdum and his family went to thorin's hall where they settled down in two homes in the rebuilding their lives as merchants and blacksmiths and miners
