A young woman who seems to be in her late twenties; she has the sky blue eyes of the Rohirrim and hair that shines red as embers. Though she tries her best to look intimidating and serious, there is an underlying cheerfulness to Leofrynn, and she is almost never seen without her trademark smirk.

Despite that she wears armor, she still manages to maintain a sense of feminine grace and beauty.

Background

Leofrynn Sperewigend, daughter of Aldbeorn and Eadgryth

The only daughter of a seasoned warrior, Leofrynn was never content with the basic life set out for her as a Rohirric woman. From childhood she would often go out on walks with her eldest - and closest - brother Eorland, and the two would often build dens, track animals and practice sword fighting with sticks. This boyish nature often got Leofrynn into trouble, and she would get into fights because the children of the village, who called her "Cub" and "Wildling", would tell tales of how she was really a bear cub who had been changed into a girl by "the tree walkers" of the west.

Her naturally curious nature was another of her features that often got Leofrynn in trouble. After hearing the heroic tales of her father and maternal grandfather - Elbema - Leofrynn would often journey into the icy woodlands of Forlaw by herself, looking for adventure. Elbema, much to his daughter's dismay, began encouraging Leofrynn's adventurous nature by tutoring her in true swordsmanship and hiring a private tutor to teach her to read and write in Common and Rohirric. This, in hindsight, was both a blessing and a curse to the young Rohirrim, for her mind and understanding grew, but so did her thirst for the world she was not allowed to have. One day, she ventured into the forests too far, for she had read that there was a way to talk with animals. The young girl did not find answer to her questions, instead she came across an angry bear defending its den. Luckily for Leofrynn, her father had been following her; wondering where she was heading off to. Aldbeorn rushed between the risen bear and his daughter, throwing his hands up and roaring from the pit of his belly. The bear sniffed the air, cowered and loped off. Aldbeorn gathered the girl in his arms and took her home. Leofrynn didn't venture far for a while, but was soon out exploring again.

Years passed, and Eorland left home, though Leofrynn never knew why, and some in the village spoke of him being exiled. During her teenage and young adult years, she turned her mind more to her books and to farming - the latter of which her parents had encouraged in hopes of getting her to settle down. Leofrynn refused all notions of finding a husband, and resigned herself to her quiet life, though this didn't stop her mother from trying. Then, one day, her brother returned for a visit. To her he spoke of a travelling éored who were helping others, and that he was riding to join them. Desperate to be free and longing once more for adventure, she begged him to take her with him; but he refused. Eorland told her that the journey was too dangerous for her, and that once with the éored he feared she wouldn't be able to protect herself, or he protect her. To keep her safe, he left her with their parents. Leofrynn had never felt so alone.

Weeks passed, and Leofrynn began her own plan for freedom. She used her farming money to purchase simple armour and a sword from the local blacksmith; then she saddled her stallion - Gimm - and made to ride out. The last thing she did before she left the stable was cut off her long red hair with her blade; that done she left her old life behind her and rode out to seek her fortune.

She headed for Bree, for that was where her brother had mentioned the éored was recruiting. Riding for weeks across the lands, braving the Isen, and further still, she travelled almost without rest; fearing that if she slept too long the riders would move on and she'd have no hope of finding them. Finally she came to small town of Bree, a strange place to one so used to Rohan. Leofrynn sought out the Riders of the Riddermark, whom she found in the mead hall, and begged them to allow her service. After careful consideration the Aethelwigend, Auerdan, allowed it, and Eorland and his sister were reunited once more. It was then that the mead hall door was thrown open, and Eadgryth and Aldbeorn entered. They had followed their daughter after finding her gone, and asked her to return home. Leofrynn refused, and after some convincing by Auerdan and the Maegisterwigend Kennia, the two allowed their daughter to remain on the condition that they too would travel with the éored.

During her initial days with the riders, Leofrynn struck up a strong friendship with Wulfniht and the bard Theodrun; she moved in with the two, and settled into her life amongst the riders.

Weeks later, the riders journeyed for Ost Guruth; the first of their stops on the way back to Rohan. There they encountered the ranger Malcom, who had been tending to his wounded friend Candaith. After it was revealed that he was the same man who had helped Frexon during his strange poisoning by a mystic artefact, Malcom spoke to the riders of the rising issues in the Lone Lands, and the riders agreed to stay and help his cause.

A month into their stay, Eadgryth was back to her usual self and trying to find a husband for her daughter. After considering the warrior Rhinath and the ranger Malcom, she felt it best her daughter marry the former. Much to Rhinath and Leofrynn's surprise, Aldbeorn was suddenly informed and the two found themselves engaged. The two spoke together for a while, and soon agreed that perhaps the match was a good idea. Rhinath suggested that as his wife, Leofrynn would be under his care and so he could grant her the freedom she had not had under her parents; he also jested that it was probably about time he found himself a wife. A little unsure, and worried for the burden she was putting upon him, Leofrynn agreed and the engagement stood; the pair decided they would wait until returning to Rohan for the ceremony.

Recently, Theodrun began asking Leofrynn to learn to read and write Sindarin - the language of the elves and Gondorians. Not entirely sure why he wanted her to, Leofrynn agreed and set to work at once. This came to a head one night when Eadgryth caught her daughter reading Sindarin text near the other riders. She tried to burn the book and scolded Leofrynn for her foolishness, but was stopped by Rhinath who saved the book and reminded her that Leofrynn was a woman not a child anymore. Leofrynn remained quiet until Eadgryth mentioned that she was doubting the potential in their match, suddenly furious - for she had developed feelings for Rhinath - Leofrynn challenged her mother and stated that she was to marry him even if her parents disapproved. The fight was calmed by Auerdan, who had been sitting nearby. He reasoned with Eadgryth that Rhinath was now a Maegisterwigend and as such was of higher authority over Leofrynn, so if he supported her in her studies then there had to be a good reason. He also reminded her that Leofrynn was now a rider of the Færende Éored, and as such only had to listen to herself and her commanding officers, not always to her parents. Pride hurt, Eadgryth left the fight. After listening to a tale from Kennia about a mother bear wanting only to protect her cub, not hurt it, Leofrynn felt saddened and went to see her parents. They spoke for a while, but eventually things were straightened out and respect equally distributed. Leofrynn was no longer a child, but a woman, though she knew in her parents' eyes she would always be the little girl they loved and wanted to protect.
