Eruthaiwen Ruinestel was born and raised in Imladris along with her brother, Aulant. The elder of the two by about one hundred years, Aulant trained to fight while Eruthaiwen found a love for reading, especially of all languages, and an interest in healing. Even so, the two were very close, sharing everything with each other. Sometime after her two-hundredth year, Aulant joined the Knights of Eriador. They wrote often, and Eruthaiwen sometimes came for visit with him and he in turn returned to Imladris when he was on leave. As her studies progressed, she found joy in being able to help, tending to those who were ill and healing the occasional wound brought about by a training accident. After many years of service, Aulant left the Order, returning one last time to Imladris before leaving the valley to travel west toward the Grey Havens and beyond the sea.

Eruthaiwen is a peaceful soul and generally optimistic. She is cheerful but not to the point of giddiness or chattiness. While she is just over 300, several life spans of men, her innocence and occasional childlike behavior could fool you. Even so, at times she displays maturity beyond her years. Her love of language began with stories and legends, but shifted to poetry when she discovered the art of conveying complex meaning through few words. 

She longed to follow her brother to the Undying Lands and to wander its length and breadth as she and Aulant had planned to, but wants to see the world safe before she does so, her hope being to eliminate suffering and anguish. As a result, deciding in to follow in her brother’s footsteps, a few years after his departure she joined the Knights of Eriador and now resides in Hookworth, using her skills as a healer to help in any way she can.
