Yet, she rarely combats in the fashions that would be considered fair, or chivalrous.

Background

The men and women of Dunland are a primitive, and brutal kind; respect bequeathed only unto those of remarkable prowess and feat. One such of these barbaric peoples was, Durhevelur, the warrior. Beastly and savage in battle, he bore a blunted axe during the clans' sporadic raids on the 'Forgoil', and the rattling of chains resounded behind him as he shackled and bound the women and children. Durhevelur, whom many named 'The Dark Uncle', had since sired a child.

The heir to his legacy was a daughter, "Flagteun", which meant "Torch-Bearer" when translated in the common tongue. Torches being a symbol of many things (War, Hope, Treaty, and the like), it can be reasoned that Durhevelur had great expectations for his offspring. Alas, Flagteun chose the path of a healer, though she would not completely forsake the war-mongering ways of her father, and so did not bring further death to his name.

Growing past adolescence, and achieving a burgeoning of experience in her vocation, the woman was commended for her good efforts and hard labours. She was moderately renowned for her artisan, such reputation earning her a place alongside the hunters of the Turch-Luth, where she would tend to their wounds and injuries. Through them, she learned the techniques of a hunter, even if she rarely takes advantage of these facilities.

When the White Wizard, Saruman, came to claim bonds of friendship with the savages of Dunland, he demanded that five chosen from each complying tribe be sent into the lands of Eriador, where they were to wait so that he might fulfill those of his designs there. In return, he would shower the clans with lordly gifts, and he promised them the lands of their eternal enemies: the Rohirrim. Many held their reserves, but few spurned the sorcerer, and so five were dispatched from the Avanc-Luth, the Draig-Luth, and the Uch-Luth.

Yet, the Turch-Luth tasked six with this objective, deeming Flagteun, daughter of Durhevelur, worthy and deserving of its import. In addition to mending her kinsmen in the foreign lands they would endure, she was also purposed to speak with the White Wizard's spies, and report anything she was informed of to the Chosen, whom wait stationed on the far borders of the Shire.
