She is originally from North Downs, daughter of A Ranger. At the age of sixteen she lost her father, and pursued a life of a wandering hunter.

Due to a rather tragic loss of her father, she is slightly paranoid and suspects easily ill of others, acting often cold towards strangers. Her childhood friend, Gunwic, is the only person she really trusts. She has traveled with him since her father's death.

They met when they were only thirteen winters old. Gun was hunting a hare by hitting it with a rope, which amused young Ivyan, who was at that age already a rather experienced hunter. Later on the foolishly brave boy actually attempted to hunt a bear with the same rope. Things didn't go that well and Ivyan ended up saving Gun's life with two rightly placed arrows into the beast's head. From that day on, Ivy has been Gun's hunting partner, mainly focusing on trying to keep Gun alive while they hunt. They also have a tendency to lose their horse due to Gun's daredevil hunting strategies. Poor Nelly, Polly and Sully, to mention a few of their deceased horses. Ivyan is very determined to keep their current horse Maroon alive longer than his predecessors. 

Ivyan is also acquainted with Faraneth, whom she met recently by chance.
